Carrying in Cabela's
At my local Cabela's (Kansas City, KS) there is a sign at the front of the store that says something like "For the safety of all customers, please check in your firearm at the courtesy desk." There is no gunbuster sign at the front door so I know there is no legal obligation, but I am wondering if this policy is at other Cabela's stores and how other permit holders handle the issue.
To be honest, I am not even sure that the sign is aimed at permit holders. I wonder if it is just for the folks who are taking their firearms back to the gun library to sell on consignment.

I don't think it applies to CCW.

This sign is not aimed at permit holders, this sign is for people carrying guns into the store to sale or get serviced. There have been problems with people bringing loaded weapons into the store and Cabelas wants the guns checked as the enter the store to verify they are safe. They can care less about permit holders, they aren't an issue. BTW, I took my CCW class at the KC Cabelas.

Similar sign at Bass pro shops and Gander mountain. Does not apply to LEO’s and CCL holders. I presume it’s intended for customers bring in their guns for service or trade-in.

We don't have a Cabela's in here, but we have a sportsman whse.. And they have a sign similarly posted that states,.. "If your going to take your gun from the holster, please check in at front desk to make sure it is unloaded"..

It is the same thing at the local Gander Mountain here. However, they changed their sign here so it says "All guns/bows must be checked in at the front counter. This does not apply to CHL holders."
While it was "known" before hand, straight forward signs are always a plus.

I checked with the customer service desk at the Kansas City store and was told that did not apply to those who have a CHL. FWIW, I carry concealed whenever I am in that store and I have never had a single problem.
God bless our troops!

Thanks for the information. I saw a similar sign at a Bass Pro Shop. I took mine out to my car, came back and shopped. I could tell from their inventory that there was no way they were anti-gun, so I was confused. Now I know that only applies to those who will be dealing with their firearm inside the store.
Come to think of it, there is a sign like that at my local gun store. Silly me! I haven't been carrying in a gun store because of that kind of sign.

Even if their sign were directed towards licensees, it doesn't conform to the KSAG regulations for "posting," and would therefore be irrelevant. They would have to specifically use the KSAG 30.06 signage to be fully compliant.

If you look further down on the same sign, it also states: "does not include concealed carry firearms"
