Hope you feel better soon, but I doubt that the Z-pack will do any good. It sounds like your doc just figured he would try it and hope, but it really sounds like a viral infection, and in spite of Hopyard's belief, antibiotics don't work on viral infections. Anyway, I hate that plugged ear feeling. Several years ago, at exactly noon on a Saturday, my left ear plugged. After 2 weeks, in spite of everything that I tell my patients to do (and several things I won't tell my patients), it remained plugged. Finally, the day before I was to fly to Vegas for an interview, I called upstairs to the ENT department (I worked first floor in Urgent Care), and I was able to get a same day appointment. The ENT performed a myringotomy (He inserted a needle through my eardrum) to equalize the air pressure. Finally my ear felt fine. Two days after I returned, the ear plugged back up. I had to make another trip upstairs, and another needle. But finally, I could hear again, and it was cured.

I, too, can get a same day appoinment. Only it is the same day the next year!

Someimes it's good to be in the business.

Next time I'll just stick a pin through my ear. Thanks for the suggestion. Just kidding.

Sounds like a nasty bout you have there. I hope you get better and back to normal as soon as possible!
