WallyWorldWalk and MallWalk
Had my CHL for a couple of weeks now, and have carried to a few places that I knew were "gun friendly" - Sporting goods stores, gun shops, and a couple of places where I was pretty sure no one would notice - MickeyD's and a Cracker Barrel with wife. After reading some of the threads here about WWW (which I originally thought meant world wide web
until I read a couple of posts) I decided to "do the walk"
.
I am not a big fan of WW (can't stand screaming undiciplined kids out in public and parents who don't care how they act
) and have rarely gone in to one, but decided to accept the challenge. I first went to a Tractor Supply and got birdseed, then to a PetSmart for cat food, then to a Dick's sporting goods to look for ammo (still out of .40S&W and .45ACP). Dick's is attached to a mall and before when I carried there I left without walking the mall. This time I walked all over the mall and entered a couple of stores looking for shirts suitable for concealed carry. Felt more comfortable as the day wore on except for the fact that it had been cool when I started, and I was wearing a leather Harley Davidson long sleeved shirt to cover my Kimber, and the day was getting warm. Felt a bit conspicuous, as others were in short sleeve shirts or T-shirts. Left the mall and headed across the street to the WallyWorld parking lot. Had to park quite a ways out, which is no problem, but as I walked closer to The Store, I noticed not one, but TWO black and whites parked right out front! I almost turned around, but thought that would draw undue attention, so proceeded through the door. I wandered all over the store (no nachos, no ammo in my calibers, didn't like the shirts or the video selection) and even nodded to one of the LEOs as I walked past him. I think they were shopping too -- didn't appear to be a major bust or anything, and didn't see them drag anyone away. Anyway, I bought squirrel food, cashews and chips for me, and left without being "made". Had a great day and am feeling more comfortable and less self conscious carrying.

Now see? That wasn't so bad!

As long as it's concealed, most every place is gun friendly.

unfortunately I see the same situations at times in my local WW too, way too many kids out of control, when I go I tend to get what I need in/out as quickly as possible

If loose gun laws are good for criminals why do criminals support gun control?

For shirts, Ts, henleys, sweats, etc, I find rather that going one size larger for a little more length, to go with a TALL version. They are about 3" longer and help cover nicely and more comfortably.

Great tip! I hadn't thought of that. Going a couple of sizes larger is a problem 'cause the shoulders don't fit right, but a longer tail is perfect.

Bunny please show cite. I can't find any thing in NC law that prohibits CC in malls unless all malls are posted in NC or they charge an admission to shop there.

The kids yelling reminded me of an e-mail I received from a friend; it belongs in the humor section but it seems to fit in this context:
So after landing my new job as a Wal-Mart greeter,
a good find for many retirees,
I lasted less than a day......
About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud,
unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her two kids,
Yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance.
As I had been instructed, I said pleasantly,
'Good morning and welcome to Wal-Mart.
Nice children you have there. Are they twins?'
The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say,
'Hell no, they ain't twins. The oldest one's 9, and the other one's 7.
Why the hell would you think they're twins? Are you blind, or just stupid?'
So I replied,
'I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am,
I just couldn't believe you got laid twice.
Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.'
My supervisor said I probably wasn't cut out for this line of work.
The first rule of a gunfight: "Don't be there !"
The second rule: "Bring enough gun"
