TOWN OF WALLKILL ó State police are investigating case of a Middletown-area man who was repeatedly stabbed while in the checkout line at the Town of Wallkill Wal-Mart on Route 211.
The stabbing happened about 10:45 p.m. Friday. Police said the 20-year-old victim and the assailant argued in the checkout line just before the stabbing.
The victim was taken to Orange Regional Medical Centerís Horton Campus in Middletown, where police say he was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police described the assailant as a Hispanic man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall with short black hair, wearing black pants with a silver design on the sides.
He was with a woman with red hair, who was roughly 17 years old, about 160 pounds, and wearing jeans and a blue jacket.
Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 344-5300.

This seems to be as good as any to carry CCW under the circumstances. Who's to know what will happen when you do your WW walk!

I will carry in WW and anywhere else it is legal to do so. Crime does not make an appointment. Even a mundane trip to the store can keep you from going home to your kids. SA & always carry.

Me too but not in NYS as I am a CT res. They do not respect Your right to selfdefence if Your a non-res. Sometimes they don't even respect the people living in NYS.

I am definately on my guard when I go to WW. I live in a fairly low crime area, but I seem to always see the decay of western society every time I go there. I have been armed every time I've been there since I got my CFP.

While I agree with carrying where legal, it is true that this incident may have happened in a way that even if carrying you could not do anything to prevent it. The victim may have been stabbed from behind or so close that he had no idea what was going to happen.

Although being armed gives us a better chance of survival it is not possible to know what someone in the line behind is going to do.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Wally World parking lots ain't the safest place to be, especially for an old guy like me. Most times when I shop I carry in a "Tommy's Gun Pack". I have my gun in my hand when going thru the parking lot and the draw is instant without exposing it until needed.

I usally do not have someone stand behind Me unless I know them. I will stand side ways and keep a eye on them. But You never know.

First, you should carry everywhere on the basis of principle. You don't know where crime is going to happen. After all, you can't make yourself safer (even by carrying) but you can make yourself more well prepared. That's all we are doing when we carry.

That said ... Walmarts are like McDonalds, it seem like they attract the dregs of society. Walking into a Walmart is like walking into a Denny's at 1:00 AM or McDonalds (anytime). 'nuff said.

Exactly.. to me this is proof of yet another reason NOT to argue with people. Walk away...even in Texas if the vic shot and killed the guy he would be charged IMO.

When in a WW line or a Super market check out it is me first then the cart; therefore NO ONE gets behind me!! I then only have to worry about close quarters frontal attack --- you could always shot me but I have a momentary time to react.
