Texas CHL 60th day today
I was just curious about something. It was said in my CHL class that the state will issue a chl in 60 days. I was also told by my instructor that the state has not been able to meet their deadlines (I understand completely). Today is day 60 and the DPS website still lists my status as "Processing Application". Here is my timeline. Someone please tell me if I am missing something.
3/9/09 DPS recieved certified CHL packet
4/15/09 DPS webpage has my status as Processing Application
5/6/09 DAY 60, status still Processing Application
Im in the same boat. My app has been processing now for 74 days and after a call to dps they said it is takeing longer and i just will have to wait.
I sure wish we could OC in Texas.

This is Travis county.
I hand delivered my packet to the DPS headquarters on 2/18 and it is still showing "Processing Application".
You can with a rifle or shotgun.

So, hopefully soon....this is now day.....87 for me, still waiting on Harris County background check.
What sucks is I'm moving to Willis on May 31st, so, they told me to wait until I move to change my address (so my license will be correct)....but I can't change it now because if it doesn't come before then, the USPS doesn't forward TXDPS mail. So, if it does come around the time I move, I'll have to get an address change anyway. (I think they just want my 25 bucks to change the address). And then, when I move from Willis to wherever we buy a home (sometime between august and december) I get to have the address changed again......lovely.
I know the rules about the 30day grace period here in TX to change your address after you move, but if it's after 30 days....are the cops really going to fry me if I had my san antonio address on my CHL say 50 days after I move? Anyone had to go through this also...
just be patient , it took me 93 days to get mine a year ago:bier:
30 Days in MN max by law. We must have faster computers here. All kidding aside even 30 days is outrageous if you ask me. I feel for you guys. I'm glad the folks who wrote our law did not allow LE to abuse the time factor.
Mine and my wife's arrived on day #60. Turned it in late Jan 2009. Got the CHLs in March.
Ernie, your application is at DPS, and is "processing". It's far too soon to expect it yet, so as hard as it may be (trust me, I've been there), chill out for another 60 days without thinking anything of it.
You guys should all consider yourselves very lucky.
I took my class back in late September when the DPS CHL licensing agency was probably half the size of what it is now.
I waited for 153 days
it took about 5months from the time i took my test till plastic in hand on st.patrics day 2008.
i had to jump through some hoops. :tired:
I got my plastic card in the mail today! My timeline is as follows:
1/31/09: take class
2/7/09: mail off application to DPS
3/9/09: get pin letter in mail
check texasonline.com often
5/2/09: status changes from "processing application" to "application approved - something, something, something"
5/7/09: card arrives in mail
I now have a curious urge to go to Wally World.:image035:
congrats Rick, now go do yer wally world walk
