Thanks to everyone for your replies and advice - I really like this one. What I've learned is that it really is NO one's business if I'm carrying or not.

I should also point out that he is very pro gun and I ended up telling him that I was carrying. I think I made a convert!

Can I just squeeze in here and say: good choice. He was pro-gun, so it worked out.

It's hard to know who to trust and who not to trust. The guy could easily go around and start telling everyone--just to see their reactions. I have not had that happen to me, but I have rehearsed the "PDA" line. But in my mind PDA stands for "Personal Defense Accessory".

When asked a question I don't want to answer, sometime I say exactly that. There is no law that requires an answer to every question.

If I were in appropriate light-hearted circumstances like a family gathering, I like to quote The Prisoner: "Questions are a burden to others; answers, a prison for oneself."

One of my freinds does this at the worst times. I usualy give him an evasive reponse like "Geee.... Im honered, but I dont swing that way " or "Why are you concerned? Should I be carrying around you?"

If he asks in apropreate place I tell him. "Why wouldnt I be?"

Just because they are family doesn't mean that it's a good idea to tell them.

Personally, I'd make something up about it.

Every "made" situation has to be evaluated as to disclose or disclaim. I'm glad you made the right choice and garnered another convert. Gov. Jessee Ventura was asked on the Tonight Show if he was carrying. His words, "What do you think?"

Say, ouch, that hurt. It will startle them. And walk away.

I believe in the evasive truth and answer "I have a concealed carry license that allows me to carry anywhere it is not prohibited. What do you think?
