    Armed Citizen's Legal Defense Network?

    Folks,

Does anyone know more about this org - Network members don't face the legal system alone!

I looked it up based upon some comments from John Farnham and it seems like it might be a smart org to join. Just curious as to the take of others here.

    Thanks.

Not a bad idea, but itís not a prepaid attorney fund. They only offer to assist your attorney, and possibly help pay.

NRA Insurance - Share the Belief, Share the Benefits - Excess Personal Liability: Self-Defense

Iíve been considering the NRA one...

Do any of your have one of these programs, and if so have you ever had to use it?

The Armed Citizen's Legal Defense Network is a legitimate organization with noble goals. The organization is still young, so its too early to tell whether they'll meet their goals, but I think it's worth being part of the effort and I'm a member.

The NRA self defense insurance is "the cheapest insurance on the planet" (according to my CCW instructor) for self defense coverage. I have it. It's not a full-coverage, no-hassle policy, but it does seem to have a good ratio of benefits to cost. For example, if I recall my reading of the policy, if you're charged in a criminal case, and you are ultimately found not guilty, then they will reimburse you up to $50K. Note they don't pay off up front, and benefits depend on you being ruled not guilty, but the benefits should be enough to cover the cost of most criminal defenses.

I'm an attorney on the referral list.

Membership costs as much as 150 rounds of 9mm these days. If it gets you a discount at a class with an affiliated instructor, you made your money back, and likely gained on the deal.

Done, I just signed up! Hopefully it will only grow with the number of new CCW's being issued all the time!

I have been reading the website and I have to say, I am considering joining up as well. And am going to get the NRA insurance as soon as I can as well.

Neither sounds like a bad deal to me.

I belonged to a 'Prepaid Legal Service' years ago. If you read what they offer, I think one would be further ahead to bank the payment and contact a local attorney, first 30-minute meeting should be free, and go from there. OMOYMV

By all means, talk to someone ahead of time.

I recently attended the Tactical Conference, and Marty Hayes, the founder of Armed Citizens Legal Def. was one of the people giving a class. He has a great concept, with the support of a lot of people in the Firearms training industry. (Ayoob, Pincus, Gomez, Givens, just a few) The network is growing, the idea being, that every year, as each of us pay into it, and the network gains members (and momentum), eventually, the network could provide a full blown, high power defense against a wrongful prosecution of any of it's members. It is a good program and it is legit, it is in the growing phase, but needs our support and participation.
