Turning Lemons into Lemonade
Unfortunately, my local bakery was robbed at gun point about a week ago.
My wife and I wind up there at least once a week, and while it's not in a "bad part of town", we've had 2 friends robbed at gunpoint within 100 yards of it in the past couple of years -- one at an ATM and another paying too much attention to his IPOD vs. his surroundings.
While the bakery has excellent products, they have been posted as "no handguns" for longer than I've had my CCW. I've reluctantly continued my patronage although with less frequency than I would have had they not been CCW unfriendly.
A few days after the robbery, I thought I'd leave a comment on the local news site to point out the NO gun policy and it's ineffectiveness, and also to ask Buskens to change this policy. I also planned to stop by and ask them to consider changing their policy as well. However, when I stopped by today, I was pleasantly surprised that the no-gun signs had been dropped already.
I am considering how I may use this further with United Dairy Farmers, our local C-store chain, who also has a no-gun policy that is causing me to go out of my way to more ccw friendly chains.

Signs obviously mean something in OH? (They don't in FL.)
I think I would approach the owner of the bakery and explain what he has done by creating a 'gun free zone', and until his policy changes, why you and many of your friends won't be back.
I'd remain concerned, honest, and polite, then I'd be looking for another bakery.

retsupt.....you failed the reading assignment for class LOL

he said the sign in the bakery had been torn down already
good for them to finally see the logic in it all, thankfully it didn't take someone getting killed in the process

(He's retired: no assignments anymore, and all he needs to do is worry about shot placement)
Well, I thought it was clever when I wrote it... Some of my lines work, some don't. Hey, I'm sick and it's late. Sorry.

This area of Cinci is interesting. Hyde Park is a rather nice, affluent area surrounded by complete crap. You have white trash mecca on on side and straight ghetto on the other. I'm suprised Hyde Park is still there to be honest. My aunt has lived there the better part of 30 years, and has seen a lot of ups and downs in the area.

I personally have a No Guns No Donuts policy.
How do you think those holes get into the center of those donuts?

When I was a kid my grandfather told me that he invented doughnut holes during the war (WW2). He would tell this story often to little kids and we loved every time he told it. He said that when he was in Burma he had to work in the mess tent because he got in trouble (true). Then he would tell us the cook put too much yeast in the dough and when he started frying them they all started floating up into the air. My granddad came to the rescue with his "Tommy gun" and shot them all down.
My brother and I thought this was a true story until I was about 9.
He told us a bunch of whoppers and he was a very funny man.

Actually, I think you should thank them for removing the signs. Especially if you intend to be a custoer who frequently patronizes their establisment.
I had to stop into a bank today because my customer wrote me a check made out to me. As I hit the door I see that they have some buster signs on the door but they were asking that their be no hoodies, sunglasses or hats worn in the building.
I didnt thank the ladies inside for not having the no CCW signs but I know which bank I may move my accounts to if need be.
FWIW, I havent seen a bank with a legal sign yet so I always just roll on in.
