Ms. Psycho or Mr. Felon wants to by a gun and is denied. Does s/he stop there? No, s/he steals it or buys it illegally. No differenent than the "drug war". Hasn't done a thing to reduce the use or prevalence of drugs. Let's focus on punishing behavior instead of potential behavior.
Oh wait, I can hear it now...but if it saves just one child, it will be worth it.

We used to be able to skip the background check, but a year or so ago, the ATF decided that our way wasn't exactly right (I don't recall the specifics, others may remember), and from then on, we had to pay. I haven't bought a handgun since that went into effect. It was sweet not having to pay that extra.
And Dakota97, we've already been through the background check. If we commit a crime that would deny us the right to buy a gun, our ability to carry concealed should be revoked. If a locality fails to do that, then they're the ones responsible. If we maintain our CCW in good standing, then we shouldn't have to go through another check every time we buy a gun. It would be ridiculous for my purchase to be denied, while carrying a gun on my hip.
If you are have a conceal carry license, you've been thru all of the "checks"...... but they failed to mention that.
Now it is 56.59% to 41.85% that disagree with the veto.
