I fought the man....on the internet.
I saw a movie on youtube that made me laugh at it. I saw the video was British and that comments were disabled and it made me angry. so I sent a letter....over the internet. It read as follows
Dear Sir, Madam, or Organization
Having recently viewed your video on gun control, I believe it is important that I voice my opinion as the comment function on the video is both disabled and a poor method of communication. I would like to take this time to point out that control while in theory is effective, much like communism, when put into practice fails miserably in western societies. If I may cite a relatively recent FBI statistic, crime involving a firearm for people above 12 years of age has declined from 6 incidents per 1000 individuals to less than 2 per 1000. As for children under the age of twelve, thanks in part to the increased emphasis on safety education offered by several organizations, injuries both fatal and non fatal have also taken a dramatic decline. Interestingly enough, during the 10 years of which this study was being conducted, individual ownership of firearms has been increasing steadily. Furthermore a CIA statistic, states and provinces which allow citizens to conceal and carry their own personal firearms have a direct correlation with lowered crime rates than those that do not. Finally a strong case study for gun control would be the country of Australia, which has had one year since citizens were required to turn in over 600,000 individually and legally owned firearms. In this time, according to the Australian Institute of Criminology, murders in the in province of Victoria alone are up over 200%. Break-ins in the homes of the elderly are up 42% and armed robberies with a firearm are up 19%. The same firearms the government just made illegal for citizens to own. In conclusion, I find it to be foolish to believe that restricting the rights or privileges of private, law abiding citizens creates a safer environment for all. I will leave you with one final thought. If you yourself were a criminal, and for whatever reason or motivation you decided to rob a convenience store or break into a home. Would you be encouraged or in any way be reassured knowing that firearms were illegal to possess? Or would you reconsider your actions based upon the knowledge that there was a likely possibility that the owner had the means to defend his or herself?
Thank you for your time

CIA statistics? Me thinks it's 100.3% likely that you have some bad statistics. It is, however, a nice post to read.

Good job.
However, based on my conversations with antis, it will fall on deaf ears -- or rather a closed mind.

Nice letter, maybe they'll see the error of their ways...yeah, right.

Gun control has nothing to do with safety
Gun crontrol has nothing to do with safety. Repeat, nothing to do with safety.
It has to do with control. Once a citizenry is disarmed, a government may do whatever it chooses without opposition. The American Founders knew this and therefore created the Second Amendment-the Peoples' check and balance against the government.
The 2nd Amendment is my gun permit.

I wish I could recall the reference, but I believe that more homicides occur each year from devices other than firearms. Unfortunately, the media doesn’t find anything sensational about someone being murdered with a candleholder or other instrument.

Thanks for speaking for us and taking the time to send that e-mail.
One e-mail means nothing but several will make the thinking process start and many will raise doubts ......................... maybe!!!
