Alabama/Georgia do not honor SC permits- Help
I'll be traveling to Alabama soon on business.
I've been studying the Alabama Code; but it's not clear on what is legal for a person with a SC (Not honored) permit can/cannot do. (It appears HandgunLaw.us is no help on AL either.)
Can I OC?
Can I carry in my car glovebox/consol; or do I have to pack in my suitcase unloaded?
What to do if stopped?
I will also be traveling through GA.
I understand GA "IS" an OC state. True?
I also understand "glovebox/consol" is illegal in GA.
But, Can I carry on the passenger seat of my car?
What do if I'm stopped in GA?
What about resturaunts and "Fast" food places in "BOTH" states?
Thanks for the help!

You must have a GFL (Georgia Firearms License) or permit from a state that is honored in GA to cary OC. You do not need a license to carry in your own vehicle/home/place of business. So you should be ok to drive through GA with your firearm, but you'd need to leave it in the car if you stop to eat, etc.

That really sucks! What are you supposed to do if confronted? Say, "hold on, let me run out to my car and get my gun to shoot you with." ? That really sucks!!

Yeah, it sucks if you don't have a GFL (or a license from an honored state). But the GFL is for both OC and CC.

You could move out of SC since they don't play nice with the adjacent states. I wish there was reciprocity between these states.

Yes, South Carolina is the one hold out state that won't recognize the surrounding states and in turn, their permit is not accepted either.
It is all over the perception of "training".

I agree that SC needs to speed up their reciprocity work but we have one of the best Castle Doctrines available.

If you ae a SC resident and have a SC CWP, then yu just need to get a NH out of state permit. (Done by mail.) This will allow you to carry in almost any state you will travel in around the US. SC only honors states that have equal or more training required for CWP. GA and AL are viewed as "lesser" training. I think GA is application, background check, and you are in.

I'm pretty sure that if SC would honor GA and ALA permits, then those state would honor SC. I have asked about this and it appears that the hold up is that SC won't enter into reciprocity because of lesser training requirements in GA & ALA.
