I'm flying to El Paso on a business trip in a couple of weeks. I will be driving around the area calling on several of our customers' retail auto parts stores in El Paso and in Las Cruces, NM.
This is my 1st trip to the area, and I do not plan to cross the border. Should I go through the hassle of checking my carry piece at the airport and pack while I'm there?
I've already checked and confirmed that TX and NM honor my TN handgun carry permit.
I would go through the hassle, but thats me.
I would. Some parts of El Paso and NM are rough.
The last time I was in El Paso, I was not packing and after it got dark, I was like a cat on a hot tin roof wanting out of there; gang bangers galor, have fun.
Ummmm.... On the boarder.... Hmmmmm... Ya,..
It is really not that much of a hassle.Call the airline ahead of time to get their rules. Basically unloaded in a lockable box, ammo separate in box.
Two weeks is a long time to be unarmed.
Absolutely--your destination is just across the border from Juarez, which is where a whole lot of the recent cartel battles have been fought. If you follow all the instructions, hopefully it won't be much of a 'hassle' to get your trusty companion there. My experiences have been very pleasant so far!
But of course, on the other hand, I hope you enjoy your time in Texas! The home of the UT that doubles as a football powerhouse

Um, YES you should! El Paso, while a fairly nice city in and of itself, si only a bullets throw from a dangerous part of Mexico where there are a couple of issues cropping up.
Mexican Mafia, MS-13, etc. I'd carry or not go, those are the only 2 options.

As others on here have stated, I would call the airline ahead of time and carry a copy of the TSA regs with you. I'm flying with my firearm for the first time next week, and I can't tell you how many contradictory processes I've been told over the phone.
El Paso is actually one of the safest cities in the US despite being across the border from the deadliest city in Mexico. Regardless, I carry ALL the time with exception of some posted areas. Good luck with your trip and if you are looking for somewhere to hang out shoot me a pm and I can point you in the right direction.
Yes. You don't want to be the guy on the evening news saying, "Well, I thought just this once I'll leave my firearm at home."
It sure is less of a hassle than funeral arrangements...

Unless this is a trick question......YES!
