What is with the Wally Walk??

It seems every member who once gets their LTCF immediately goes to Wally World and comes back with pictures and a story of their adventure at Wally World and what they bought with a picture of their shopping cart? I don't get it

It's kind of a right of passage around here. Or you could think of it as a tradition. I have no idea how it got started, but it's fun for new CCers, and fun for us to read about and see pics of others WWWs.

When I first came to this site and joined, I too wondered about the so-called "Wally Walk" until it was explained to me. Some have felt it's kind of childish considering the seriousness of concealed carry, but I have found it to be a useful "tool" in feeling comfortable about public concealed carry.

While not "mandatory" in any respect, going to a public place where you will encounter all forms of humanity with a concealed firearm and permit is necessary to get used to the idea of it. It may not be everyone's bag, but it's just something that folks here can do and discuss their experiences.

    May the "Wally Walks" continue.

It's a trial by fire so to speak. First time out I was a lil nervous. Felt like i had a large neon sign over my head saying MWAG. A few trips to WW and I stopped feeling like I would be tackled any second by SWAT.

Great way to lose the new CCW jitters.

It's basically a test, with as many unwitting/uncaring folks in condition "white" as possible, as a test to prove that nobody cares, nobody notices, and you shouldn't worry about carrying in public. The first time out certainly need not be to WW, but WW represents the epitome of sheep pens, so to speak, hence a good first-day test.

It's a good way to get rid of those first time carry jitters. You're around a bunch of people, and it doesn't take long to realize that the sheep are just going about their business...and are in no way concerned about your strong side hip bulge.

    Cool No offense, just curious

PS: I'll admit, it was some what awkard when I carried for the first time. But after a few times out it's just like carrying your wallet or cell phone, it just becomes another accesorry on your person and you don't think twice about. Now when I can not carry that's when I feel awkward, lol!

My wally walk consists of walking to ammo counter where they tell me no ammo for my pistols :(
Glock 33 .357 SIG plus .40 S&W barrel for most of practice. Keep loaded with .357 SIG hollow point for home protection.

One reason for the Wally Walk is that all Walmarts allow firearms carry as long as it follows state laws. So unless you are in Illinois or Wisconsin you won't find an "Criminal Protection Zone Signs" prohibiting carry. The same can't be said for malls and even places like farms stores, and sporting goods stores, as I've found when traveling out of state.

Except for an incident that happen to a local member at Walmarts in Reading, PA, he got stopped by Walmart security for his OC and the rental cops didn't know Walmart's policy with being gun friendly.

Does anyone have a larger (and more printable) version of this? I'd love to have a few on hand to hand out to friends who get their CHL. This is good stuff
