    Nevada Residents, Help Please

My fiance and I are traveling to Las Vegas tomorrow night to get married. We are flying by private plane and I can bring my firearm, locked in a pistol case. My permit from Florida has reciprocity in Nevada and I am curious about how I can carry while in the state. Isn't it illegal to carry in a casino? How do I carry if my hotel is part of a casino and I have to walk through the casino to leave/enter my room? I am completely lost. Please help.

Carrying in a casino is not illegal. The only place you could get into trouble is a posted government building, a school or daycare. Casinos will and do hassle people from time to time when they open carry. You are totally good to go. Oh and by the way you can drink and carry as along as you stay under .10 although I don't recommend drinking and carrying. Remember that signs carry no wait in Nevada unless they are posted in the places I noted above.

Welcome to Vegas and thanks for adding to our economy. FYI, I work for the airport. Are you flying into McCarran or Henderson Executive?

I don't know what airport we are flying into. I have to speak to the pilot tomorrow. It is legal to bring my firearm, right?

    McCarran Airport carry

McCarran airport is posted no carry, even outside the secure area.

It is but if he is flying into McCarran and it is a private plane he won't hit the main terminal. He will most likely fly into the General Aviation part across the N-S runway and it won't be a problem. Only commercial airlines disembark at the main terminal. Even if you fly into Henderson Executive if won't be a problem either because it is also a General Aviation. You have nothing to worry about.

    I forgot to say congratulations.

Thanks Beretta!!! We are so excited. Never been to Vegas and I am a poker junkie. I am just happy to be marrying such a wonderful woman. Any recommendations on must-sees? We are staying at the Venetian. I don't know what is around it or if there is anything that most tourists don't know about.

Congratulalations on the upcoming wedding, S1A1. As far as carrying concealed in Nevada, you've gotten good advice so far. I might add that you'll see that some casinos are posted no firearms. Don't worry about it, signs have no legal standing. The worst thing that a casino can so is ask you to leave, and then have you arrested for trespass if you fail to comply. But, carrying concealed, that's not likely to come up. Should you be staying in a hotel where their posted, and you get made, if they ask you to leave, just let them know that you're a paid guest, and just weren't aware, and you'll take it to the room. Then just be more careful.

I carry in casinos all of the time, and have since I got my permit over 3 years ago. I've only had one problem, which occurred 2 years ago. I was out of work, and went to the Suncoast Casino to cash my unemployment check. Since I was dressed for the gym, in scrub pants and a Tee shirt, I was carrying my XD 45 in a fanny pack holster. I had finished, and was heading toward the door. somehow the zipper worked it's way from the middle of the top, to the bottom of the side. and the XD fell on the carpet.. This of course happened just as I waked past 3 Suncoast security guards. I immediately scooped the gun up an reholstered it, but they had seen it. There wasn't any real problem, I showed them my ID and CCW permit. They were polite, and no trouble to work with. I was leaving anyway, and one of the officers walked out with me, while we talked about guns. I've been back many times since then, and I continued to cash my checks there
    every week.

You may have already left by now possibly you're even in your room or the casino), but I'll go ahead and write, thinking that you might have a laptop with you, although given that it will also be your honeymoon, you probably have a different type of "laptop". Someone else may find it helpful. As far as places to see, I would recommend a trip to the top of the Stratosphere Hotel. There are 2 observation decks, the second to top floor, is enclosed with plate glass for inclement weather, and chickens. And the the very top, outside. There are also several rides, all that take advantage of being 107 or so stories above the strip.for the thrill seekers. While the view from the top is breathtaking during the day, I my wife and I prefer the night, with all of the lights. It's beautiful, and can be quite romantic, too. My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner in the Top of the World restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere.

As far as shows, there is a large selection to choose from. I doubt that you can go wrong. If you like comedy, and don't mind if it's off color at times, then definitely check out Anthony Cools. He's a stage hypnotist, and is incredible. My wife took me to see him as a birthday present a few years ago (my idea of course). We laughed just about the entire time. He had people doing some really weird things, and one woman believed that a certain portion of her anatomy was talking to her, even interrupting her when she was talking to Cools. No nudity, just a little off color language at times, and adult situations.

If you're here for more than a couple of days, and want to see some of the beauty around us, rent a car, and take a little sight seeing trip. There's Red Rock Canyon, which isn't too far out of town, and they have an 11 mile drive through some beautiful red rock formations. If you would like a day trip, then the Valley of Fire is a fantastic choice. To call it beautiful is just such an understatement. There are rock formation, Indian petroglyphs, and just so much more, including, for the Trwkkers, the site of Captain Kirk's death in "Generations" . I've never taken anyone there who wasn't just amazed with the beauty. Anyway, if you think that you might like to go to those places, drop me a PM, and I will send you directions. Also, the site where Kirk was killed isn't marked, so if you are interested, just ask me how to get there. Have a hot time (you will, we had out first ) 105+ degree days here 2 weeks ago), and once again, congratulations.

Timely thread! I go through Vegas all the time on my way to California, but I'll be staying for a weekend at the end of July and I had some of the same questions as the OP.

Squawker - Thanks for the sightseeing tips. Like I mentioned, I'm usually just passing through so I haven't ventured too far off the strip other than Hoover. Hopefully there will be enough downtime during the convention that I'll be able to sneak out to Red Rock or Valley of Fire...

Gonna be DAMN hot the end of July tho

Ok if this true, does this mean OC or does it apply to CC also?

So I assume its ok to fly in with it in checked luggage and then carry once outside of the airport property?

Its a timely thread as I am planning to visit later this month.
