This is something we do not have to worry about in FL.

As we travel north this summer to visit the grandkids, we avoid any place with a 'No Guns' sign. I'll not spend my $$ with any business that assures criminals a guaranteed 'gun-free environment'.

No guns = No $. I personally don't care about their reasoning. The fact is they don't want guns in their place of business, and our Attorney General says it is their right to prohibit them. Both the business owner and the customer have rights. I will exercise my rights by spending my money at other establishments.

So how many signs are there in states that dont have conceal carry? It would be interesting to know. That would determine rather the signs are more for permit holders or for criminals. I go to Illinois quite often and I dont remember seeing the signs there, or atleast that I've noticed. I'll have to look around next time I'm there. I dont look for them because I'm never carrying there anyway.

Feelings and beliefs don't change reality. Reality is, upstanding carriers don't just "go off," as the fearful would have folks believe. Such beliefs, fears and signage won't stop criminals doing what they do. And none of that changes the fact that upstanding citizens present no threat whatsoever. Finally, ineffective (and therefore pointless) signage having no weight of law in most places, only the legal request to exit holds legal ramifications for refusing to leave. In that sense, it's meaningless and immaterial. Other than the simple fact (as suggested above) that the business is against the rule of law, against upstanding citizens and against the pillar of the 2A and what it really represents. IMO, that's the entire point.

I believe signage is there to keep criminals out, but I also believe that those who think such signs actually achieve that aren't thinking very lucidly about the reality. It has no actual protective value.

It's most practical effect is to send me elsewhere, in future.

Who knows? Perhaps it’s a liability thing’ whereby the business owner could demonstrate they did what they could to protect their employees in the event of a lawsuit.

Still, the signage is offensive to me, despite the business owner’s prerogative to place them. I’m starting to take note of such businesses, and subsequently post them to the “NoCarryZones” website.
