    im not sure, i dont see why you couldnt, but in a way a county fair would be considered a public gathering i think, i read on some other forum that this one guy was told he couldnt go in and that he didnt need a weapon there because they had the police there to keep everyone safe.

    I just returned from checking the website for the Fairfax County Fair. I do believe that you can CCW at the fair. Here's a list of the items that are not permitted at the festival. If this is the same fair you mentioned, you are fine with carrying at the fair.

    WHAT ITEMS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT THE FESTIVAL?
    To ensure a safe and enjoyable festival experience for everyone, the following are not permitted at the festival:

    * Coolers, pitchers or glass containers
    * Soliciting
    * Removing alcoholic beverages from the site
    * Laser pointers
    * Lawn or beach chairs
    * Pets, except for service animals for patrons with disabilities
    * Boom boxes and audio recording devices
    * Scooters, roller skates, skateboards, bicycles, or in-line skates
    * Professional still or video cameras
    * Climbing on any scaffolding towers or stages
    * Smoking at any tented areas or indoor venues
    * Defacing property within the festival site (this may result in prosecution)
    * Bringing in outside alcoholic beverages

    I don't see "firearms, weapons, etc" included in this list. Go for it! Enjoy the fair. Please do me a favor and let me know how the "Blue's Travelers" sound. I love their music.

    Enjoy the fair!

    I poured over the Virginia statutes before VA Gold Cup this year. Even if they serve beer (or other alcohol) for consumption at the Fair, that would still be okay because the Fair does not qualify as a "club or restaurant", the only places where alcohol affects concealed carry.

    IANAL or a Virginian, but I think you'd be good to go here.

    Fairfax county is completely prohibited by Virginia state firearms preemption from prohibiting open or licensed concealed firearms from any park or government owned land or building that is not a corectional facility or contains a courthouse. The areas that sell beer are not a club or restaurant as defined by Virginia law banning concealed carry.-Jay

    As long as the fair is held on city/county/state owned property you are clear to carry. If it is held on private property you are good to carry unless it is posted.

    If I heard the commercial correctly, it's at the Fairfax County Govt Center. It'd not a courthouse, but is a government facility. I'd have to re-read the VA Code to be sure of the legality.

    Isn't the Fairfax County Gov't Center the place where VCDL holds their northern Virginia meetings?
    The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.

    Most in NOVA are at Mason District Governmental Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA 22003

    Assuming I found the site you are looking at this is at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035
