    South Carolina CWP Rules

We can thank the Gov. Mark Sanford for signing the bill allowing us to have the gun in the car on school grounds it saves a lot of trouble. (Effective immediately)

I wish that the "Restaurant Carry" bill would not get stalled every year.

    FYI
As of today SLED hasn't updated their website.

nice....well they should change the laws in WA state as well. With the Bloods and Crips moving up here, kids are driving expensive cars and packing some serious firepower in their backpacks. You'll see their new shiny rides parked in the driveway of their government donated homes.

    Curious...
Does this just allow pick up/drop off of students while armed, or could an employee have a weapon in the car while parked?

    Anyone with a CWP....

Says locked car or in an attended car. There is no specifics in the bill that define as to why you would be on school grounds.

So therefore an employee could leave it in his/her locked car if he/she has a valid CWP.

Rightfully so that it should be anyone and not just a CWP but... we take what we can get.

Spoke to a CWP instructor this week about this and he DIDN'T know about it. Said he had to call SLED to verify and see if he needed to change his teaching style.

I said "well, hope you like change then" (We are pretty good friends and I got my CWP through his class)

I had really hpoed that the "restaurant carry" bill would pass. But according to Grassroots it is stuck in commitee and it is almost time for the South Carolina Legislature to take it's "well earned" break . . . July thru Dec.

SLED is never in a rush to pass anything down. Park Rangers took almost a year to be notified that it was legal to carry in SC parks a few years ago.
