Politicians just don't understand that criminals don't follow the law so making more laws is not the solution. I know, I am preaching to the choir, but I just had to say that.

I hear what you are saying,

But wouldn't that be like putting up a couple more street lights because a blind man fell crossing the street.
It allows them to say they did something, even though it dosen't change anything.

    Just by $0.02 worth.

I don't think it actually happened. Not in the Anti-gunners Paradise. It's probably just state-sponsored terrorism to underscore the need for more state controls on guns.

Yup. It's also job security because as long as there are people who do bad things, there will be politicians wanting to pass a law to stop it. I guess nobody's bothered to enlighten the politicians that BG's don't usually concern themselves with obeying the OLD laws, so why should they obey any new ones! The more things change, the more they stay the same... at least for the bad guys.

I think the problem is that some politicians do understand that criminals don't follow the law. But those politicians don't really care as anti-gun laws are not about stopping crime but ensuring the populations dependency on the state.

The story is sad. Pismo Beach was always a quiet, beautiful beach town. Things in that state continue to worsen, and the legislature there does nothing right.

No offense intended to people on the forum from CA. When I arrived there from Pennsylvania in 1970, the state was "in balance" politically. Back then, Ronald Reagan was the Governor, and the state legislature was balanced by conservative and liberal points of view.

Over the years, the state has been in a steady decline politically. Speaking as a former attorney in the criminal justice system there (for over 25 years), I can tell you that the state is choking on its own laws.

People like US Sens. Feinstein and Boxer, and also similar type state lawmakers, have helped ruin what used to be a good place to live.

You're right if you're thinking that these lawmakers will use the Pismo Beach tradgedy to push for more gun control/ban type laws. They just don't care about ordinary folks. They say they do, but they don't.

The crime there is now so bad, with violent crime through the roof. Law abiding people there should be have "shall issue" CCW's, to try and protect themselves from the growing, and violent criminal element.

I know what you mean. I lived in the Bay Area back in the mid 70's for several years (stationed in the navy there) and it was great. Now, I can't believe how they have ruined such a place. Then again, I guess I grew up listening to the Beach Boys and watching Walt Disney and those beach movies. It was a different world...

What drives me absolutely nuts is these same legislators that fight tooth and nail for gun control (or outright bans), are the very ones who have their own CCW permits or armed bodyguards around the clock. Oh, I forgot ... their lives are worth more than ours.

After the Luby's Cafeteria shooting in Killeen in the mid- to late-eighties, Texas politicians made wise decisions regarding CCW for law-abiding citizens. I wish for the sake of the good folks of California that I felt their politicians would draw the same conclusions...unfortunately, I have no such hope.

Perhaps among the survivors of the tragedy, someone such as Dr. Suzanne Gratia-Hupp will emerge to champion the rights of Californians, and us all.

As a minister people ask me, "Why do you carry a gun?" My answer, "The law is only an offense to the lawless. My gun is not for those who obey the law but for those who do not." Thank God that law abiding citizens are able to carry in Texas.

I wish I understood the mind-set of people who think it's a crime to defend yourself. But I think the tide is turning as more states move to legalize concealed carry.
