Technically, the Utah BCI broke the law by taking so long. It was supposed to be 60 days or less.

53-5-704. Division duties -- Permit to carry concealed firearm -- Certification for concealed firearms instructor -- Requirements for issuance -- Violation -- Denial, suspension, or revocation -- Appeal procedure.

    (1) (a) The division or its designated agent shall issue a permit to carry a concealed firearm for lawful self defense to an applicant who is 21 years of age or older within 60 days after receiving an application, unless during the 60-day period the division finds proof that the applicant is not of good character.

    No recourse

Yes, but there is neither penalty nor recourse specified in the statute. Grrrr!

I have heard that they have been overwelmed with applications of late. Still no excuse for violating the law but I am willing to cut them some slack since this increase in volume is a recent occurence. That is easy for me to say since I already had my Idaho permit. The UT non-resident permit was only to add a few more states where I had no immediate plans to travel to.

IIRC, your non-resident permit got there faster than my resident permit did I didn't count down the days exactly, but it was closer to 4 months than 3 for me... if not more.

There are lots of people who wish they could wait 112 days and have a permit. Although I think the waiting more than a day to get a CCW permit is a 'crock', it's just some of the hoops we must jump through.

Congrats on that new permit though.
