    Wash. D.C. Holocaust Museum Copycats

Anyone care to take a guess as to how long it will be before some copycatter attacks another Jewish Institution? I usually pocket carry my 9mm Kahr when I attend synagogue on Friday evenings, but for the next few weeks my larger .40 cal. Glock 23 will be under my sport coat!

I don't think that is a big concern... one lone nutbag and all... and, his attack wasn't real effective for his purported goals (no disrespect to the fallen security guard). I don't see people copying him...

But I would still stay sharp... ya never know...

I don't have an idea how many copycats there will be. However, it is very wise to be armed, and as much as I hate to have to say it, a synagogue is at higher risk than my Baptist church. I hope you are not the only one armed.

I'm sure that many upcoming murderers take heart in seeing actual murderers make the attempt. They're still of the same sort that dream of harming others. And yes, I'm sure many are searching for effective methods to use. Copycats? Sure, if the method turns out to be effective enough.

Anytime. Anyplace. That about covers it.

I respectfully disagree. I hope you're right, but I doubt it. The guy wasn't a "lone nutbag", per se. Apparently the guy was well-known within the social circles of white-supremacist whackjobs. There is the distinct possibility that his chronies will view him as a martyr (because his strategy was ineffective, rather than in spite of it), and will be emboldened to follow his example.

Only time will tell if there will be a copy cat incident. Some crazy people enjoy the glory and fame the media gives them, so they figure they can do better than the last guy. These shootings will never end so as long as there are restrictions on where good, honest, law abiding people can carry guns to level the playing field. The media is always looking for a good story no matter what the body count is.

I think anyone with a CPL should carry at their church, synagogue or temple.
After the Jewish center shooting in Seattle, I thought they would have armed security, but some of the victims are still anti-gun.

My uncle is the rabbi in Mumbai, India and he barely escaped the attack on the center there. Unfortunately, a visiting rabbi and his wife were killed in the most gruesome manner.

I will never know what drives people to hate other people based on their God, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Every state unfortunately has some group or militia that is anti somebody. It won't be long before some of them decide to carry out a similar cowardly act.

Can't do it here in Michigan. Gun-Free zone otherwise I'd always have mine too.

We don't really have to worry about copycat...there's plenty of 'original' crackpots out there already preparing to have their own sicko parties, they just haven't surfaced as of yet.

I've had a lot of dealings with those cowardly curs in usenet and FidoNet before that. They're mostly long on threats, VERY short on action, ESPECIALLY against people they know will fight back.

They've been threatening to kill me for years. They know I've got guns and will use them. Hence, no visits. They're not al Qaeda. If there's personal danger involved, 99.99% of them will stay in their mother's basements, swapping kiddie porn on the internet.

I've been wondering since von Brunn was shot whether I've ever given him a rhetorical swirly in usenet. I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I think most Muslims who kill Jews are not doing it because of their religion, but because of the unjust actions some Jews have taken against some Muslims. However, this is apperently not the case here.

I would carry the G23 in church even without this regretable event. You just never know when the BG(s) will strike.

If caught with it I hope you can give a good explanation to the judge. Since that is where you will end up.

    Per VA law:

Carrying dangerous weapon to place of religious worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held unless you have "good and sufficient reason." There is no known definition of what a
good and sufficient reason would be.

IMO, there is no better reason that protection of life of loved ones. Little else matters but that. On the face of it, the "good and sufficient reason" clause supports the right of Virginians to defend themselves.

However, is that waffling, cowardly quote, "There is no known definition of what a good and sufficient reason would be," actually in the VA statutes?

That VA law must mean that the legislators cannot agree on whether they, too, value life in such a simple manner and are instead willing to crucify Virginians for daring to do so. Hm.

Not to get into a Pisng match. But Muslims were going after Jews well before 1948, when Israel became a nation. They were killing them because the Arabs felt their numbers were growing to large
