    Talking Two LEO interactions yesterday

Yesterday, I had two interactions with LEOs while carrying.

    The first one very pleasant.

The second one very stressful -- albeit the LEOs were not the problem.

First, I had to go up to Roanoke, on business.

My son was coming off duty from his scheduled court day, so we met for lunch. Also, met some of his co-workers. Every one was carrying [Me OC'ing with the Va Tuck, as we were at a ABC restaurant]. Very pleasant LEO interaction -- interruptions by citizens asking advice of those in uniform not withstanding.

Later, I get a call from my son.

He has been run off the road. Had to lay his bike down.

He is OK. Nothing broken. Only some abrasions -- thanks to good technique, good protective gear, and a lot of good luck.

Bike need some serious repair. Off-duty weapon on its way back to S&W for an estimate.

I went to pick him up, as he was closer to here than to Roanoke. I was CC'ing this time. Advised LEOs. No questions. No concern. Very pleasant and helpful on the LEO's part.

    But very stressful overall.

Glad to hear your son is ok.

Hopefully your son's S&W will not cost too much to repair.

Thanks for the post...I'm all for open carry.

Hope your son heals OK and the S&W and bike can be repaired.

Did he get the tag number?

You should see the Biker Accidents thread...shook me up. Then hearing about your son...too much in one week. I'm seriously considering putting my Harley on Craig's List and buying a jeep...sort of getting back to all 'fours'.
Glad your son is still standing...

Your son is lucky. Thank God for that!

My co-worker got hit by an SUV in Ballard last week. It sent him flying 60 ft into several cars. His Ducati was totaled and he has metal plates in his arms. The driver passed by him, paused for a second, said sorry and sped off.

Despite being shaken up and some damage to the material things, thank goodness everyone was ok and your son is not damaged! That's a scary, scary thing! I hope the bike and his S&W can be fixed quickly.

Oh, yes, and I'm happy for you that all the LEO interactions went swimmingly, despite the reason for your 2nd one. :)

    Glad he is ok

Glad your son is ok and all worked out. I gave up riding years ago, even though I loved it. There are worse things than making your wife a widow, much worse.

Sheesh, glad everyone turned out good.

Pleasant experiences with LEO's are always nice.

i had someone run me off the road on my bike several years ago and i sold it and bought me a convertible camaro. that plus i got tired of all of the near misses by the other people driving that don't pay enough attention to their surroundings. i felt it was time to get back to all fours also.

I went through the same thread as well. There was enough gore to deter anyone from not buying a bike. Or if you own one, to sell it and be safe. That's if you want to play it safe. In my book, life is one big risk.

I had a bike until around 7 years ago. I want to buy another bike in the near future. I'm not going to let fear rule my life. There are bigger things in life in which to be concerned all the same.

I've had to lay my 750 down twice in one year. I just received most cuts & bruises. In both cases I just "dusted myself off" and rode home. Both accidents were the result of idiot car drivers. The car in my second "incident" just took off! This accident/incident cost me 2 turn signals, 1 windshield and some scratched exhaust pipe. Not to mention a few cuts, bruises and some earned "road rash". I'm not going to let fear rule my life!

Please rethink selling the Harley. Life is too short to just "play it safe." Despite the claims of the a biker thread, "live to ride, ride to live."
