Maryland CCW holder...YES...I said "Maryland"...wins gunfight!

Just received this from a friend. I used to be a cop in PG County, Maryland. When I left several years ago, it was next to impossible for a law abiding citizen to get a CCW permit. I'm not sure how this guy managed. But, he did, and he used it effectively to save his life. Now, perhaps...just MAYBE...Maryland will get a clue and allow law abiding citizens a shot at self-defense.

Robber Shot, Killed At Cross Keys
    Friday, March 17, 2006
WBAL Radio and The Associated Press

A man who was being robbed in a shopping center parking lot shot and killed one of his attackers, police said Friday.
The incident occurred about 1:50 p.m. outside Cross Keys Village in Baltimore when a man was attacked while getting out of his car, Baltimore Police spokesman Officer Troy Harris said.
The man pulled out a gun and fired several shots at one of the attackers, who died a short time later at a local hospital. Two other attackers ran to a car and fled with another person.
The man, who was described by police as being in his 50s, was registered to carry a concealed weapon, police said.
"He was severely beaten but nothing life-threatening," Harris said.

Yea I read that on our Missouri Carry forum. The permit holder did the right thing as they put a pretty good beating on him before he was able to fire. Killed 1 and they are looking for the other 2. I hope he was able to put a round or two in the others so they will have to seek medical attention and can be arrested.

Anybody else have a problem with this statement? Isn't severely beaten life threatening?

This is Maryland we're talking about. Baltimore no less. The Sun probably has already printed a story about how disadvantaged the dead man was and how he just needed a helping hand, not a bullet.

They probably also noted that the only reason the guy was beaten so badly was that he refused to just lay there and give up whatever the disadvantaged young men wanted.

Next they will tout how this is a prime example of why "civilians" should not be allowed to have guns. If it weren't for this cowboy the disadvantaged youth would still be alive. After all putting a beating on someone isn't grounds for being killed.

Or something along those lines I'm sure.

This guy is either politically connected or has incriminated pictures of someone who is a politician. So far as I know those are about the only ways to get a carry permit in Maryland. I lived in PG County back in 1985. Left in 1986 and the only time I went back was to recover my stolen car and go to court for the same in 1988.

I'd love to know how he got one also, as would a lot of my friends. I know my first thought runs to politicians and physical acts that can't be mentioned on this forum.

As to Maryland getting a clue........... Yea, RIGHT!

One thing that struck me was - here was a guy being beaten by three BG's - and they probably never even thought of him being armed in MD.

But he was (by some miracle) and it went to prove that it probably saved his butt.

I guess they meant he was conscious and could still walk - probably hadn't seen his maybe broken ribs, bruised face, broken finger, internal injuries, damaged eye, bleeding ear, torn ligaments ----- yeah, nothing life threatening (yet) !!!

Anti papers/reporters, they love to lie and fabricate and see it how they want to see it and never look at it from the victims point of view.

I bet that the article would have been completely different if the one reporting it this was the one that was beaten and robbed.

Thanks for posting on the CCW holder from Maryland. I'll bet if he wasn't armed he'd be either dead or suffering great bodily injury.

Hopefully a few legislators there will begin to open their thinking to CCW.

I guess they see it like surgery, it's minor surgery if it's somebody else's surgery.

In TN, deadly force is justified for a fear for your life OR serious bodily harm. Hmmm, that's not quite the right wording, but in essence...
