    New Hampshire increases non-resident fees

From the New Hampshire licensing web site:
    PLEASE NOTE:
Effective July 1, 2009, the fee for Non-Resident Applications increases from $20.00 to $100.00.
I've always suggested the NH license as a good buy for it's cost and ease of obtaining. Guess now, ease of obtaining will be the only plus.

    Well, that's what I get for procrastinating ... :(

I think I'll pass on NH.

I called them today just to see if they had gotten my application (which was mailed June 24). With the high amount of non-resident applications they are still working on the ones from the first week of March. I might see my permit in about 4 or 5 months. Just hope they don't try to stick me with the increase.

No disrespect meant ...... but a NH permit does little if anything for me.

I have a resident CO and nonresident UT....

Well, look at it this way - the only reason they're doing this is because they have been SWAMPED by non-resident applications. Hopefully, they will use the increased revenue appropriately - by hiring additional staff to process applications - rather than just dumping it into the state coffers.

I have one because I go up there once in a while. I hope its good for at least 5 years or I can't justify renewing once it expires. Mass charges $100/yr !

NH is good for 4 years, or $25/year (used to be $5/year!)

Well that is one permit I no longer need. I will cut out my NH vacations as well just to return the favour.

Does anyone know if applications that have been sent in prior to July 1 will be grandfathered to the $20 fee if they haven't been processed yet??
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Wow, guess I got mine just in time! I just can't afford $100, but the $20 was doable.

One problem is if you're going to NH itself, you'll need that NR permit, as they don't accept any other state NR permit. They don't have much in the way of reciprocity as it stands now.
