    Missouri CC ?

Does anyone know if Missouri law allows me to take the CC class before I turn 23 and then simply apply for the permit when I turn 23 in December? Or do I have to wait till I'm 23 for the class to be valid?

This would really help me since the local CC classes are held outside and so get put on hold over the winter months and I don't want to wait till spring.

    Thanks.

When you go by the sheriffs office to get the list of approved trainers, ask them the question. The local sheriff is going to be the one to issue the permit.

Good advice. You should also check out Missouri Concealed Carry Gun Permit and Firearms Information Website it is a wealth of info for those of us in the Show Me State.

Not a problem - check out Missouri Revised Statutes 571.101 and .111. There's no age or time restriction on the training (it doesn't expire).

i took my class before i was 23, and then didn't get my permit until just before i turned 24. No questions from the instructor or the sheriffs office.

BTW, where are you at in MO? You could probably find a quick list of instructors online. Start asking around at your local gun shops. Sometimes (at least once over here in KC), the guy at the Walmart ammo counter had business cards for a local CCW instructor. I thought that was a pretty great idea, but a bit unexpected. Just have to find the right guy working that night!

For the summer I'm up in Independence, but during the school year, I'm down in Rolla going to school for an Engineering degree. At least for one more year anyway.

Actually, the archery shop I work for during the school year offers classes once or twice a month, so I've already got that lined up.

I'd recommend Crossfire on East Truman Road in Independence. They offer classes every Saturday.

The classroom and range is in the same building as the gun shop.

Not only can you take the class before you are 23 but you can also use that training to get a Florida CCW at age 21 and carry in Missouri. I have not looked into it myself but have heard you can get a Maine permit and carry in Missouri at age 18. Missouri law automatically recognizes ALL CCW permits issued by other states, or political subdivisions there of.

I highly recommend you join the Missouri Carry board, the guys who actively promoted and got our CCW law passed are on the board, as are the guys & gals working to pass improvements to our gun laws.

I definitely recommend Crossfire for the CCW class. I didn't take my class there, but that is where I usually shoot, and I often eavesdrop on their class when I'm waiting for a lane to open up. The instructor is really good.

Congrats on the future degree--and the good choice of going to Rolla!

When I went, it was still called UMR . . .

Dutch's is only $50 in Raymore.

If you are/were in the military, FL accepts that training for non-resident permits. It's still a good idea to make sure you review the actual laws in MO (or whatever state you carry in).

I took Dutch's class. It was an excellent class--well worth the $50.

    JOE-
Definitely join Missouri Carry and link up with "Naked Prophet", he also is an engineering student at Rolla and the 2 of you would likely hit it off. It’s not like there a lot of girls in your classes to pick up or anything

Yep, MUST (Missouri University of Science and Technology) wasn't much of an improvement.

But were you there for the 100th Annual?

Hey, we are almost up to 25%!

You know its bad when the first thing I do after walking into class on the first day is to count the girls and do a quick % calculation...

    Its never pretty.

No, I would have had a hard time convincing the wife to let me go back down and re-live some of the glory "daze"!

She still gives me a strange look when I bring out one of my old green sweatshirts--usually with unexplained stains on it . . .
