Thumbs up Good exp. w/ Albany Ga. LEO's

Recently I had a very good experience w/ some Albany P.O.s.

I work for the local paper doing deliveries. Last week after making said deliveries, while on my way home through one of the not so nicest parts of town, the fuel pump on my vehicle goes out. Now this leaves me stranded at 4am about 75yds from a neighborhood convenience store where those who lurk about at 4am congregate. After about 10 min. the vultures began to get curious. I did have my Para P13 with me in a Blackhawk Serpa. Soon the APD arrived. After helping me push my vehicle in to a near by lot they offered me a ride home which was maybe 10min. away. Knowing that the officers not knowing could present a problem, I notified them that I was armed and that I had a permit before I even got close to their vehicle. As cool as can be the Sergeant replied that it was no problem with a wave of the hand.

Now some may say that they should have checked and maybe even secured until I got dropped off but I just get a warm and fuzzy from the accepting attitude from these LEOs.

Being from N.J. it's refreshing to see that just the presence of a firearm is not considered a threat with some LEOs.

    Sam....

Good deal. I am glad it turned out well. I think a well trained officer, and an experienced one should be competent to make judgement calls on one's character based upon observance, and the subject's (you) behavior and actions. Surely that is why you were not 'dis-armed'. Best to you.......Carry ok.

I'll wager you wern't quite as ominious as the 'indigenious' population of the area. Yours is how they should all go.

I talk about this in my CCH classes. We here in the south grow up around weapons and because as such we are use to people having them. You get into some of the northern states and some of the states out west and having a weapon is looked down upon.

As an LEO I don't know how many times I've encountered people with weapons, either it be CCH or the shotgun/rifle hanging in a rack in the back window and I've never had a bit of trouble out of any of them.

No, not on blocks. I did do a lot of driving by there until the afternoon- when I could snatch it the mechanic though.
