    oklahoma carry

I will be traveling to Oklahoma for vacation and had some questions on carrying. Do the no carry signs carry weight in OK or will you just be asked to leave? I see on handgunlaw.us about prohibited bullets but cant find anything other than larger than .45 or "other prohibited bullets". I assume hollow points are ok. Thanks

Dont Assume. That may get you into trouble. Research thoroughly before leaving. I am sure the internet has links to OK state laws on CCW. Only looking out for me fellow 2nd Amendment Brothers!

Here is a link to the Oklahoma Self Defense Act that covers CC and includes everything you need to know.

In short, no, the signs carry no weight at all legally.

Other prohibited bullets are various kinds of reloads. Any commercially made HP is fine as long as it is .45 or smaller.

Hollow Points are legal in Oklahoma, Oklahoma is a "Must Notify" State and you can carry in restaurants as long as more than half their income is from food. Never saw a posted sign when I lived there, so not sure.

The "no carry" signs are something of a controversy in Oklahoma -- most generally the opinion is that they carry no real weight legally. Best advice I think is "concealed means concealed". Oklahoma has no 30.06 law for signs like Texas.

Concealed carriers in Oklahoma are prohibited from carrying a caliber larger than .45. Hollowpoints are just fine -- I think New Jersey is the only state that has a problem with them.

You can carry in restaurants here that serve alcohol, just don't sit at the bar.

    Enjoy!
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.
