    Got the phone call...

...at about 1:15pm from my local PD. They left a message that my permit was ready to be picked up (Took 12 days total from applying).

Unfortunately, I was sleeping at the time of the call (I work 3rd shift), and I didn't wake up until 4:19 today. What makes it even worse is that the local PD closes at 4:00

So it looks like I will have to pick it up tomorrow, and hopefully manage to be awake when they're open.

I already have an IWB holster for it. Just a plain old Uncle Mikes LE IWB without a retention strap. It's a little uncomfortable, and I would probably only use it with a sweatshirt as my Ruger P95 is a little large and will "print" while wearing just a normal shirt. Also, sitting down with my gun in an IWB is uncomfortable.

So, for those days when I don't wear a sweatshirt, I was thinking about buying a shoulder holster. Does anyone have any suggestions? Comments about how comfortable (or uncomfortable) shoulder holsters are?? Thanks!

Congrats, if you are looking for a very comfortable IWB try the Crossbreed Supertuck.
The permit process should be as quick everywhere.

    Congrats on the new permit.

Shoulder holsters? They can be very comfortable, I have a Fist (vertical), but I seldom use it as I prefer IWB holsters.

Congratulations! I don't carry in a shoulder rig, so I can't help there. Good luck anyway.

    Thanks for the suggestions...

I picked it up today, and am planning on heading to the local gun shop in a few minutes to look for a shoulder holster.

The permit is made out of the thinnest paper you could think of...Do they really expect that it's going to last me almost 5 years.

Its the holster that is uncomfortable. I would suggest a better one. A shoulder holster is not the greatest idea as it limits you to wearing a cover garment always.

    Update:

Bought an Uncle Mikes vertical shoulder holster for around 50 bucks (picture below). I find it to be very comfortable, but as Oldskoolfan said, it does limit what you can wear for cover. However, I do have a simple OWB holster that I will probably use for days when it is hot outside, and I can't wear a zip up sweatshirt to cover my shoulder holster.

Edit: When I have more money, I will look in to buying a quality IWB holster... i.e. Supertuck

Welcome from Ohio. I have a Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster and it is by far the most comfortable shoulder rig I have ever worn.

congrats on your permit. a good holster will carry a lot more comfortably IWB than the uncle mikes one. i'll eventually get around to getting a holster for my ruger p95 dc...probably sooner rather than later it will be OWB though. i've found that for me its not much harder to conceal IWB than it is OWB and its a hell of a lot more comfortable.
