Positive CC interaction with Cleveland TN police

I decided to take the dog to the Greenway here in Cleveland TN to relax after several hours on dead ending on the job search.

A Cleveland cop on park patrol liked my dog and we got chatting for quite awhile. Eventually he commented on my gun ever so slightly printing through my sweaty shirt. No drama at all. Just asked what I was carrying, then the rest of the conversation turned to guns and the outdoors.

    Pretty cool!

The way it should be even if you get made.

Exactly the way it should be.
BTW, I was carrying IWB, and I asked I was printing badly after he said that. He said "No. Just barely. Only another gun person or cop would notice".

    Nice to hear.
I've been to Cleveland twice, but didn't get to see too much of it either time. It seems like a nice place.

Nice outcome. And don't sweat getting mad in TN. We don't have to conceal in TN. (I'm sure you know that but others may not) Open carry is legal statewide. So, printing is no big deal at all.

Cleveland is still "down home" in attitudes and values. You would have been treated the same in Macon County or any other TN small town or city. But for people outside of Tennessee don't let this mislead you.

In the big cities you would still get hassled and possibly arrested and then have to lawyer your way out. The police chiefs of Nashville and Memphis are still antigun for civilians and those departments will do anything they can to discourage carry. There have even been problems in some of the smaller cities, Gallatin for example.

Tennessee is a wonderful place and outside of city limits, it is very gun friendly. Inside the big cities it is the same as big cities anywhere else, full of people who don't like guns. I don't want to discourage folks from visiting, please do, TN is a very fun place, but don't get the idea you can Wyatt Earp it with your dress and not get slammed on the ground just like in LA or NYC. It does happen here.

Visit the country, have fun. Visit the cities, be careful! Personaly, I wouldn't visit Memphis without a team of Recon Marines
as backup! I lived in Chicago for five years (stationed at NAS Glenview) and I felt a lot safer there than I do in Memphis!

I was in Service with a kid from Cleveland Tennessee. Red headed Kid. Terry something or another. Could not resist the thread.

I'm sure I print a lot with some of the tshirts I wear. Open carry is legal here, but it's not common. I honestly don't think anyone other than a friend I know has ever made me. He knows that I always carry.

If I wasn't a Kentuckian, I would wish to be from Tennessee (or Texas, or Alabama, or Georgia, or...okay, anywhere South of Cincinnati). Attitudes toward; guns, food, drink, manners, hospitality, family, law enforcement, God & barbeque just seem to make a bit more sense to me 'round here. Bless their Volunteer hearts!
