    Texas 30.06 Signs

I've been carrying now for a while and when ever I go into a building I always look for a 30.06 sign. Well I was thinking about it and I've never seen one that is not in a goverment building.

I have seen plently of 51% signs in bars, but I don't worry about those because I'm not carrying anyways.

But has anyone else noticed the lack of 30.06 signs? (Not that this is a bad thing.)

Yep. The only place I have seen them is at medical facilities.

Very few, what I have seen are either signs that don't meet 30.06 requirements or signs that state "The villegal possession of firearms on these premises is prohibited" which I'm sure when BG's see them makes them go ah shucks and turn around

The only legal ones I have seen have been at gun shows...go figure.

Even Lewisville Hospital doesn't have one. It does have some verbage about no guns, but definitely not a legal sign. As such, I take it as a recommendation.

Around here it is just at one of the hospitals, and one branch of credit unions.

When the OP says that they see them on Gov. building, why type of Gov. buildings? Are these on your local, state, or federal buildings.

If they are local or state buildings they are not valid signs.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I have only seen one at Memorial Herman Southeast hospital, the problem I have seen is that the main entrance is posted and a couple of side doors aren't posted, according to the law all entrances must be posted. I got the impression from the instructor, that government buildings don't need to be posted just like sporting events, but I might be wrong.

This is incorrect. Only FEDERAL buildings do not need to be posted, because they are already a no carry zone.

State and Local government buildings are fine for carry, unless they listed under 46.03/46.035 ie: Courthouse.

I don't know if anyone else does this, but I have a mark on one of the cards I keep in my wallet that shows me an inch measurement.

I have only seen 3 attempted 30.06 signs that weren't at a gun show or hospital, and all 3 did not meet the legal requirements.

One was 5/8 inches high, even though it was properly placed and had all the correct text. The two others were in English only with no Spanish.

Thankfully, these are not official legal notices, and you can walk right past them!

30.06 signs do apply to government buildings, only private property, I thought.

You are correct. It specifically states that in code section 30.06, unless one of those places is listed in 46.03 or 46.035, ie courhouses, prison, etc.

Other local and state buildings that are owned by governmental entities can not even post a 30.06 sign legally.
