    Support National Defense Act S-1390

Take a Look at This and Contact your Senators to ask for thier support!

The U.S. Senate is now considering the National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1390). As a part of the consideration of that legislation, Senators John Thune (R-SD) and David Vitter (R-LA) will offer an amendment on Monday to provide for interstate recognition of Right-to-Carry permits. There is a very high likelihood of a Senate floor vote on this important and timely pro-gun reform on Monday or Tuesday.

While the right to possess firearms for self-defense within the home has long been respected under the law, for most of our nation's history, state and local governments have prohibited ordinary citizens from possessing firearms for self-defense in many settings outside the home. Recently, however, most state legislatures have taken steps to reduce those restrictions. In the last twenty years, the number of states that respect the right to carry has risen from 10 to 40 -- an all-time high.

I'll be shocked if this makes it...but we'll see. I haven't noticed anything from the NRA pushing calls to legislators?????
Maybe something is at home...I haven't been to my email in two weeks.

I seriously doubt this will even get out of committee much less pass.

Of course, we can always be surprised....

This S-1390 notice was on my NRA mailing.
In the paper (Daily News) today they stated that it might come up for a vote as soon as today. Senator Schumer from NY vows to fight it.....Surprise, surprise

It would be nice if they voted in favor...living in CT it would be nice to travel to Mass. or R.I. without worrying about carrying

I received e-mails from both GOA and NRA. Hopefully this will get somewhere since it is based on the same concept as recognition of drivers' licenses.

We have two states that would be totally no (as in no right to carry) a number of others that restrict carry in some way or another. So the chance of it making it are well a snowball in . . .

WI is supposed to be open carry. IL will still be a no-go zone.

Every journey begins with the first step. I'd rather see this stuff floated out there for consideration. Then just keep bringing it back until it gets some traction.

One of my best friends is from Illinois, I am from Pennsylvania. He just applied for his PA CCP. He loves his state, but HATES the gun laws. Pretty sure he wont be living there in the next year or so. And if you ask him (he is from the farmlands of southern Ill) Chicago is NOT part of Illinois.

    Travel in New England

I would be nice to visit my sister in CT, my brother in ME, friends back in RI and travel through the other New England states and not worry about having a permit from each of those states.

I can apply for non-resident permits from CT & ME but if this does become law this won't be necessary.

I'm hoping this becomes law but I'm not holding my breath for passage. Keep a positive thought all the same!

Yes, IL & WI would be excluded from the list of states that would be required to honor CCW permits. States that do not issue permits are exempt from honoring CCW permits.

Well, with an Oregon CHL and a Washington non-resident CPL, I can drive straight through OR, WA, ID, UT, and MT without issues, but thats where I have to disarm to go further.

On the bright side, I have no intention of visiting The People's Republik of Kalifornia, so Im not too upset about not being valid there.
