    Concealed Carry Card Information

Does my concealed carry card address have to match my driverís license address? My DL expires in 2 years. I would rather not renew my license if I do not have to. I live in Alabama. Thanks for your input.

This really doesn't answer your question, but I've never gotten the impression that you had to have a drivers license in order to have a CCW. That being said, what are you going to do for transportation? I've never imagined Alabama has a thriving mass transit system. I'm not trying to criticize your decision, I am just curious.
When in doubt empty the magazine.

Sorry for confusing you. If my DL information is required to correspond to my CCP then I will have to renew my DL immediately. I would rather renew the DL when it expires in 2 years.

Your best bet is to call your issuing sheriffs office and ask. Many states require that you update your carry permit within X days of moving. If you travel, you have to abide by the state you in laws and many do require a current valid ID.

Tombstone, too live in AL. My DL does not have my current address but my previous (I moved 3 years ago). When I got my CHL I gave the current address so they do not match. I got stopped for speeding about 6-8 weeks ago and handed the officer both, for courtesies sake. He asked which was the correct address and I told him the CHL. No problems with the two not matching. My DL will be renewed in March 2010.

BTW - this is in Elmore County. The stop was conducted by a local city LEO.

    Hope this helps.

My concealed carry permit is correct. It is the DL that needs updating.

Sounds like you may be fine if you notify the DPS.

The question needs an Alabama specific answer.

In Texas the DL and CHL are linked, or the CHL can be linked to a state issued ID card. Both must be presented to officers. The CHL isn't valid if the DL isn't presented.

I don't know, but I would think DPS won't issue the CHL if the address doesn't match what is on the DL.

Alabama may be different, so OP really needs to get an authoritative answer from someone in his own state government.

In Texas, you are required to put in a change of address on both your DL and your Concealed Handgun License. They must match. You violate DL laws if you don't update within 30 days of moving. You violate CHL laws if you don't update within 60 days of moving.

I would not risk it. Contact your issuing departments and know for sure.

Well I would say that if your carry license is correct and you have corrected your DL per state requirements, (In Michigan the DMV places a new address sticker on the back) then you should be OK. If your DL is updated per state requirements if you did not have the Carry license, then it shoudl be OK with the correct Carry License info.
Of course IANAL and I did not stay at a Holiday Express last night
