Conceal carry in Kansas (if you have a Texas CC license) , and you should have no issues. Only thing to know is, if they have the infamous sign on the door... don't carry inside... and there are fewer and fewer who have signs. Also, don't carry on fedl land and state offices.

(disclaimer: Im not a lawyer. This is just from a few minutes of research on handgunlaw.us)

Im not sure if you meant along your path, but not all states honor your permit, not by a long shot.

Here are the ones that dont:

    Hawaii
    Washington
    Oregon
    California
    Nevada
    Nebraska
    Iowa
    Wisconsin
    Illinois
    Ohio
    West Virginia
    Washington DC
    Maryland
    New Jersey
    New York
    Rhode Island
    Connecticut
    Massachusetts
    New Hampshire

The ONLY way to go to SD from TX, cc the entire way, is to ride around Nebraska, through Colorado & Wyoming.

OTOH, Nebraska is an open carry state, so you can CC through TX, OK, KS and SD, and OC in NE.

Just remember to know and follow the CC, OC, and Use of Force laws in the different states,

Expect to get hassled by the Sturgis PD for open carry. I had one ignorant cop tell me it was a FELLONY to carry a gun on a motorcycle in Sturgis. I mentioned how it couldn't be a felony because it was state regulated, and asked him to refer to the first page of the SPD website where it clearly states you can carry a handgun on your motorcycle. He wrote me a speeding ticket and said some not very kind things about "my type." Apparently computer programmers with a libertarian mindset aren't welcome.

Conceal carry up there man, it is not worth the hassle during bike week.

You sound just like me, a code slinging, gun toting, mototcycle riding, libertarian minded person!

Now back to the thread - Enjoy your ride to Sturgis.

I just found out about 20 minutes ago I will not be making the ride up to Sturgis this year. Scheduling conflict. Have fun Chepo! Drink an extra beer and let your eyes linger on a bartender for a few extra seconds, someone has to take up my slack...

You could add 100 miles to your trip and go by way of New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. I think all of them honor your permit nd it's a lot more scenic drive.

NE is an open carry state, stay out of Omaha, and you will be fine.

The better half and I are also going up to the hills

At least you won't be like those phony bikers who I see every year pulling a trailer full of Harleys behind a Winnebago. I've actually watched them pull into the campground, take the bikes off the trailer, strap on sleeping bags and leather, and ride into town like they've been on the road for two days. I hate phonies!
