    OR state law sucks!

    Came to WA to visit family with my wife last week. We had no problems flying out of oklahoma city with my pt145 and lcp.I thaught i was sure of gun laws here but i guess not.

    My family lives in vancouver wich is only like 5 min from portland, or. , so alot of our time is spent there. For starters, my wife cant carry at all becuase wa has a speculation that you must meet there state requirements for an out-of-state permit to be valid. i.e. you have to be 21 to get a permit here but not where we live so her permit is not valid as she is not 21. Then, oregon state has no reprocity with any other states. So in since im in or. most of the time,ive been trusting my surefire,gerber fastdraw,and a can of oc spray.

    But other then that it is beautiful here and for those who dont know or remember i just returned from a 12 month tour in iraq, so this is my vacation. That is also why i havent been on for awhile as moving back home and getting the new house was pretty hectic!

    Isn't Oregon just Northern California?

    Welcome home, many years ago while returning to Travis from survival school at Fairchild I took the old road that parallels the freeway along the river, some of the most beautiful scenery ever.

    Well, I can tell you, for residents, the concealed carry laws are quite good. Sorry about the non-resident part. If you want, I would be happy to escort you any where you want to go.

    Oregon, where you can go to terminate your own life legally, but cannot carry! Makes sense to me.

    Sounds about right...can't carry your firearm and the crime level skyrockets.

    Just curious about something. When did Oklahoma change their age requirement? When I lived there it was 21 and their CCW Pamphlet still lists minimum age as 21.

    TITLE 21 1290.9 Eligibility
    ELIGIBILITY
    The following requirements shall apply to any person making application to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for a concealed handgun license pursuant to the provisions of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act. The person must:
    1 Be a citizen of the United States;
    2. Establish a residency in the State of Oklahoma. For purposes of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act, the term residency shall apply to any person who either possesses a valid Oklahoma driver license or state photo identification card and physically resides in this state or has permanent military orders within this state and possesses a valid driver license from another state where such person claims residency;
    3. Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age;

    Ditto. When you say "so her permit is not valid", I assume you're talking about a CC permit. Like Archer51 said, everything I see for OK says 21 and that's reinforced by the fact that KS recognizes an OK permit which we wouldn't do if their legal age was less than ours (21).

    I love Oregon, but I stopped going there after I started carrying. It is too risky for me not to carry because trouble has this strange way of following me.

    As for the lawmakers in Oregon, their lifestyles are all over the news. It seems like an episode out of some soap opera. I doubt people like that can pass laws that actually make sense.

    Yeah--in Portland, Beaverton, Salem and a couple other Oregon cities, you cannot have a loaded weapon in your vehicle, open carry or not--it must be unloaded, and oh yeah, you cannot even have a loaded mag or speedloader in the car either--talk about being a defensless target

    I was born & raised in Oregon. Just took my wife to Salem last month so she could help nurse her 77 yr old mom back to health after extensive heart surgery.. I was GLAD to see the Oregon state line in my review mirror.
