    Gun signs in Texas

This question has probably been asked before but I need to know something. Yesterday I took my family bowling and noticed a sign on the door. It said "The unlicensed possession on these primesis is a felony and subjet to a ? fine and ? years in prison yadi.. yadi.. yadi"

Does that mean if you have a CHL you are cool to carry or can you not carry in the place at all?

I wasn't sure so I went back to the car and dissarmed. I didn't like doing it, but the kids were excited about bowling and it was in the middle of the day. I also do not believe the make 50% of their revenew from alcohol sales.

Short answer to your question is your legal to carry as long as you have your permit.

Is the sign posted a legal 30.06 sign? If not it i nothing more than window dressing.

    Texas sign

The TABC rules require the sign that you saw to be posted by any estabishment that sells alcohol. You will see the same sign on liquor stores, restaurants, etc. This is different from both the 51% sign required by establishments that garner more than 50% of their revenue from sales of alcohol for consumption on the premises (i.e., bars, not restaurants), and the famed 30.06 signs that restrict the ability of CHL holders from carrying on the posted premises. The sign that you saw does not apply to CHL holders as they are LICENSED.

Ernie, you are good to go as others have stated. Just remember next time, don't shoot the pins, use the ball.

Unless I’m missing something here, your posted quotation clearly reads “unlicensed possession” so if you don’t yet have a permit/license then yes, the signage would certainly apply.

    Regards,

I 'm licensed, but have only had it for a week so I am being extra careful not to have it revoked.

Lucky you! I'm still waiting on my license. Am suppose to get it anytime this week or next.

Since you are licensed, your ok to carry at the bowling alley. As long theres no 30.06 sign or 51%

I believe it can be loosely considered a sporting event.

The only sign that "blocks" you from entering with your weapon is a properly worded and posted 30-06 sign or a 51% sign.
