When you go somewhere you can't carry, say a gov building, how do you secure your firearm?
I bought one of those security safes for use in the car.
Is that what most people do??![]()

I just disassemble my Glocks and scatter the parts.
A locking glove box is better than nothing as well.

I seldom leave a firearm in the vehicle, but if left with no choice I use a Center of Mass safe...well hidden in the vehicle.

For a cheaper alternative, albeit not as secure, use a gun lock to lock the firearm to a secure place in the vehicle. Worst case, you can usually lock it to the seat somewhere; underneath is best.
It won't stop a determined and prepared thief, but the "smash and grab" types won't get it.

I bought a lockable single gun Safe with a locking cable. Keeps the snatch and grab types from getting it. Easy to conceal too. Got mine from Midwayusa.
I'd say my initial thought, if you don't have an in-car gun safe, would be to disassemble the weapon and separately store the parts.

I remove the ammo from my J frame and carry the ammo in the otherwise empty pocket holster. I put the J frame in a locked glove compartment and, of course, lock the car. I'm wondering if I'm too casual, given the preceding responses describing separate locks and lock boxes and disassembly of the weapon. I will appreciate hearing your opinions.
I use a Secure-It pistol safe with cable.

I just lay it in the floor covered by whatever is handy. Never had any problem. There is a limit as to how much trouble I am going to go to. I have never had my car broken into, and don't know anyone who has.
If my gun gets stolen I'll just report it and buy another one.

The large CoM safe will hold 2 XD Subcompacts in 9 or 40. We've got 2, one for each car. Then if we are both in the car together, we can both stash our guns.

Small locking gun safe mounted to my floorboard behind the driver seat in my truck. It's one of the cheaper models with a key lock.
2 large center-of-mass car safes. My birthday present this year. Great items.
