    Indiana Taxi Drivers CCW ?

    I am trying to find out if a taxi (cab) driver in Indiana can carry a handgun. I have a valid Indiana gun permit that allows me to carry, but I have not found an answer to if you can carry while driving a taxi.

    Times are tough, and I have started driving a taxi to try make extra money for my family.

    I have been told by the company "It is on you, we stay out of it".
    I know another driver carries MACE / Pepper Spray.. but also want to know, she is waiting on her Indiana Gun permit.

    It's not guaranteed advice, but if you call the issuing authority (sheriff) for your carry permit they should be able to advise you whether that's allowed.

    Based on info from Handgunlaw.us, unless your taxi is a school bus or riverboat casino, you should be ok.

    I did ask a few lawyers, and got told it would be $350 -885 for an answer, in as few as 3 days to as many as 15 days!

    Another lawyer and he said he did not want to get involved in matters with firearms.

    I've read everything I can read about Indiana's handgun laws and know nothing that would seem to prohibit Taxi carry. It certainly could be prohibited by the Taxi company or owner and perhaps there could be a local ordinance that is relevant. If you are not aware of this Indiana gun forum, you may want to join and post this question there. There are some pretty knowledgeable folks there on Indiana and local laws/issues.

    You could always deliver Pizza fer Pizza Hut,they have a no gun policy,Like others have said look at laws pertaining to carrying in commercial vehicles for hire,if there are none then carry concealed,chances are the only way anybody will find out is if you really do need it,
