I agree Puncho, if i would have only known...lol
I guess that's a bene of living in Tallahassee. Sort of like people in DC probably get their welfare and stimulus money sooner than others...

how about renewal of a permit? Have you heard any thing on this? It sounds like they need to hire some people if the government has not already skimmed the money out of the trust fund. There should be more then enough money to hire some people.
Once you have your permit in your "hot little hands" you'll forget about the wait, and just be glad you have it.
However, the "express application" for those who have yet to apply would definitely be the way to go in Florida!
The wait is agonizing for everyone regardless of the length!
In Missouri, by state statute, they must issue or deny within 45 days. If back ground check has not come back within the 45 days, they still, by law, must go ahead and issue the permit!
If later, the back ground check does come back a "no go", it is then up to the Sheriff to go to the individual and revoke the permit which was already issued.
The legislature did this in order to keep local Sheriff's from intentionally dragging their feet in issuing permits.
So at least we know going in, exactly how long the wait is going to be and that it won't be any longer than 45 days!
Once you get your "certificate for permit" from the Sheriff, the individual takes the "certificate" to any DMV office and your permit is printed up right there on the spot. So, in 45 days, you go to the Sheriff, pick up your "certificate" then go to the DMV and leave with your permit in your hand that day. (You are either issued a new Drivers License which shows your ccw status or you can opt for a Non-Driver State ID card which shows your ccw status.)

subject Concealed Carry License
Dear Sir or Madam;
I have heard that we can now apply for the Fl concealed weapons permit at the regional offices in person now to include fingerprinting.
Can you confirm this and if so is this during your normal business hours or specific times?
Thanks in advance,

You are correct. Call 813-272-2552 and make an appointment. You only need to bring your driver's license, proof of qualification, and a check or money order for $117.00.
My app was received on 6/15. I spoke to the very nice people at licensing today, and they told me they were processing applications from 5/11. A while to go yet...

Subject: Concealed Weapon License application question?
Dear Mr Mathews,
I understand that people can now apply for a CWL in person at the Department of Agriculture Office in Fort Walton Beach, I know a few people that are applying for their license from Pensacola. If this is true how do I arrange for people in my area to get their license processing in person, and what do they need to bring with them? Also is there a DOA office in Pensacola where they can turn in their Application or is it just at the Fort Walton Beach office?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There is no office in Pensacola. Processing is done by appointment at the Ft. Walton Bch. office. Please call 850-833-9146 for an appointment. They will instruct you on what to bring at that time.

You do not work for them, they work for you.
An express lane for CCL, how freakin cool. It took KS two and a half years to issue 20,000 permits. I would love it if our paper had to report the state was adding offices to keep up with all the good people arming themselves.

After I forwarded the email above to a few folks including my brother who has procrastinated himself into good fortune. He called Monday, made an appointment for Weds. He said it took less than thirty minutes and he should expect his permit in approximately 30 days. BTW, he's in Orlando.
On the flip side of that, A LTC at work sent his in, in April and still no word. His was also a lapsed renewal and still taking way too long.
