My wife went for her WV Concealed Permit class with the Sheriff's Department. She scored 95 out of 100 on the written test. At the range on Saturday (Aug 22nd) they had to fire per the requirement in WV law. They had 30 rounds of 38spl and revolvers supplied by the Sheriff. They had an M161A target to shoot, and she hit the circle all 30 times. They started at 5 yrds then back to 7, 15 and finally 25. She shot better than the guy next to her who has been shooting, in his opinion "more than 20 years." I'm so proud.
Then they shot at the rack of round plates that "ping" and fall. She scored a hit the first shot, at least 20 to 25 yards away and then proceeded to blast them all down with her six rounds. They fired one 10 rd mag in a S&W 9mm semi-auto. Apparently the trigger pull was very difficult, even the guys had trouble pulling. Her first shot was difficult, it was the one outside the black. Her next nine punched the circle in a nice tight group. She was at the 15 yard line with the auto.
Needless to say, she did very well. Now it's time to fill out the application for her permit and begin the wait.

Over the years, it’s been my observation that female’s can shoot just as well as their male counterparts with equal training, and practice
I have to toss my congrats her way as well. Awesome job!!!!!!

I am just as nice as anyone lets me be and can be just as mean as anyone makes me. - Quoted from Terryger, New member to our forum.
There was an article in the local paper here about a local girl that won the national Air Rifle competition. She was 14 and her dad had competed in matches. She decided to give it a try and set a national record in the very first match she entered. She is now attending Jacksonville State on a shooting scholarship.
Congrats! My wife out shot me and everybody else on the line at our CHL qualify!
You Ladies rock when it comes to shooting!!

I think that the women who are better shooters are the ones with the better focus.
When I shoot I think of nothing but that little spot at the center of my target. I see nothing but that spot and my sights, I don't see or hear anything else, until after I pull the trigger.
There are a lot of women with "intense focus".

I was told that we are usually better because of fine motor control. Plus, of course, we don't walk into a beginner class having to assume we know it all. We *listen*.
Congrats to the OP and his wife. Live long together, and safely.

Good shooting she should be proud.
Awesome. I think you owe that lady a nice dinner to celebrate!
BTW, Is it odd that they require you to shoot their guns?

Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
