Although it may not be feasible to move out of Kalifornia, you have taken the first step into a better world for you and your family. Seek training from a firearms instructor and familiarize yourself with the state and local laws.
What city of Gerogia would you recommend moving into? I know Atlanta, GA has a lot of poverty and crime.

    BlackSS,

Just so you know, Atlanta is NOT a typical GA city. I've always thought of it as "NYC, South." Just about any city or town in GA can be a really nice place to live.

Georgians are, as a rule, nice, friendly folk. I was born in Thomasville and it's still a good place, even today. Many tour the town, just to see fully-restored houses that date back to the War of Northern Oppression. ( )

Best bet would be to check with your local authorities. Just my .02.

Your permit (if you get it) would allow you to carry loaded and concealed in or out of your vehicle.

Before I got a permit, I always used to carry my weapons and ammo in a lockable bag (Lowes tool bags work great - and they don't shout GUNS!) with two locking compartments. I think combo locks are the best choice for locks, but any lock will work. Lock the unloaded guns in one, and the ammo in the other. Place the bag in your trunk. It's overkill, but will keep you out of trouble.

I guess I've been judging by what I see / hear about Georgia. If I can get out of California then by all means I would.

Judging by what I see/hear about California, I don't blame you.
