Like many others here I have carried with a round chambered since day one. Just make sure you are sufficiently knowledgeable regarding the operation of your weapon, and adhere religiously to the four rules of safety.

Same here. Since day one. Can't imagine not walking around with one in the chamber.

Day 1 as well, I also made time one afternoon to teach myself to draw and thumb my safety's in to the "Fire" postion on my S&W and my STI. Now its muscle Re-Memory and I do it invoulentarly. Never have to worry about that either.

My Ex-wife would not carry, even tho she had her permit until she went to the range several times and shot competively in "Fun Shoots" to build up comfort levels and confidence of having to draw and position herself in the situation. She now carrys often.

I started on day one also, I figured if you always treat a gun as if it was loaded you might as well have it be loaded

I carry with chamber loaded and safety off and have been since day one. But i also carried open carry for years before the same way. Not much different.

I went about a week going without a round in the chamber. After I read enough advice on this forum, I was convinced that I need to carry chambered.

A soon as I realized that I might need my gun right away, I stopped carrying condition 3 and went to condition 1. When someone really pisses me off, I can go to condition 0 with a flick of my thumb. Just don't start with me, you know how I get.

IMO....if you are able to get a permit, I think you should be prepared to carry chambered. But only you will know when you're comfortable carrying in this manner. Be safe

From the beginning. I have been shooting since 1961, and carrying for a long time. I simply remeber these rules:

    1) All guns are always loaded! (Until you personally check to ensure otherwise)

    2) Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy!

    3) Never put you finger on the trigger or inside the trigger guard until your gun is on a confirmed target and you are prepared to shoot!

    4) Always be certain of your target and what is beyond it before you shoot!

This is what keeps me alive and preserves the safety of others.
