To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them. – Richard Henry Lee 1788

I admit, being a former Californian, that the Highway Patrol was the first thing to come to mind, the first time I saw CHP used.

But can I now conceal a Cheese & Ham on Pumpernickel? Does it matter what kind of cheese?

Well here in Virginia we can't carry a State Trooper, so we settle for a CHP.

I'm just one root in a grassroots organization. No one should assume that I speak for the VCDL.

I am neither an attorney-at-law nor I do play one on television or on the internet. No one should assumes my opinion is legal advice.

Gee I thought CHP WAS a Cheese and Ham on Pumpernickel.

I agree the acronyms can be confusing, and I also don't see why some people find it neccessay to point out that "their state" issues a CPL, not a CCW, that a CCW is the crime you are charged with.
Most of us can convert CCW to CPL in our heads, kinda like long division. Besides the gun stores around here offer "CCW Classes" not "CPL Classes", so if it's good enough for them it works for me.

As they say in the army, avoid TLA's (three letter acronyms)
