    Quick help from Washingtonians

Hey I'm wondering about carrying at a Mariners game at Safeco Field tomorrow in Seattle. Of course their website says no firearms allowed but I'm wondering if all they can do is ask me to leave?? Also do they have detectors or do they pat you down? Never been to a game since I started carrying so I'm not sure how their security is set up. Any help from you guys here in Washington would be great. Thanks.

    They do use detectors sometimes.
A traffic ticket is formal recognition of a lapse in situational awareness.

    Cool

If we want or expect respect for our rights, then we must respect whatever rules or laws that effect us. The anti's don't need any more ammunition.

I don't know how things are in Washington, but here in Texas we're prohibited from carrying into sporting events. Of course this doesn't keep bad guys from doing so in all cases. Gun laws are a little ridiculous sometimes, but as a good guy you must abide by them. I would check more into your local laws.

For the most part they just make you open any bags, and they feel around. I have seen wands, but rarely used.

Washington law RCW 9.41.300 does state:

    (2) Cities, towns, counties, and other municipalities may enact laws and ordinances:
    (b) Restricting the possession of firearms in any stadium or convention center, operated by a city, town, county, or other municipality, except that such restrictions shall not apply to:

    (i) Any pistol in the possession of a person licensed under RCW 9.41.070 or exempt from the licensing requirement by RCW 9.41.060; or

(ii) Any showing, demonstration, or lecture involving the exhibition of firearms.

Hope its some help, you'd have to see what the local laws are, but seems that they may be able to restrict the stadium if I'm reading it correctly.

You are LEGAL to cary concealed.
(except that such restrictions shall not apply to: RCW 9.41.070)

They may deny you entrance and you may file a lawsuit.
I have no dought that you will win because of WA's constitution.
SECTION 24 RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS. The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain or employ an armed body of men.

there are very few places you can not carry.
all of them are listed in the RCW.

and to POINTEDLY answer your question.

Such laws and ordinances shall not abridge the right of the individual guaranteed by Article I, section 24 of the state Constitution to bear arms in defense of self or others; and

    (b) Restricting the possession of firearms in any stadium or convention center, operated by a city, town, county, or other municipality, except that such restrictions shall not apply to:

Yup. Assuming you have a Washington CPL, go ahead and carry concealed. As above- the law has a few restrictions for sport stadiums for open carry when people do not have a CPL. Having a CPL exempts you.

I actually went there in July and feel like I could of made it in with my gun without a problem. They search any bags you have and question any bulges you have in your clothing, I had my phone and wallet crammed into one pocket and they asked to see them and that was that. As far as metal detectors, I dont remember any. I must say though I didn't carry because I was unsure on security to get in and didn't want to make my family wait 20mins as I run to the car and back to lock up.

I must say that I had the exact opposite experience at the Nickleback concert I went to. They question you and pat you down big time. They where so thorough that I was afraid the next thing they were going to say was "Ok, now bed over"

Having been to several games - sometimes they hardly look at you when you go in - and other times you get a thorough wand and pat down - so in this case I'd secure the gun in your car or leave it at home. There are plenty of LEO's in the stadium and enough people where I'd hope things remain controlled enough. I guess I'm not paranoid enough but I'd be more paranoid about the akward moment of them finding your gun and having to explain yourself with 500 people in line behind you.

I wouldn't go near Safeco Field unarmed.

The maximum effective range of an excuse is zero meters.

an outdoor concert is a diferent story.
this question was about a "Mariners game at Safeco Field"

in this case, even if they wand you you are allowed, acording to the law, to enter with a CPL.

The use of a metal detector at an event like this is for another thread.
