IMPACT KERAMBIT - SHOMER-TEC All of which gives me some initial options on getting out of harms way before I really MUST draw. One thing is certain, if you do draw and subsequently run out of ammo, nobody on the opposing side is going to be in much of a mood for negotiations!

Carry extra ammunition and at least one extra magazine. Nobody was ever killed because they had too much ammo.
Does anyone have a reference to a published newspaper article where a non-LEO actually reloaded and fired the second magazine/cylinder in self defense?
I've read a lot of newspapers, but have never seen this instance occur or be reported.
Check the FBI "Miami" shootout accounts, such as this one: click.
The only one I can think of in which a non-LEO expended more than one magazine full of bullets was a scenario posted here about ~6mos ago. A homeowner watched thugs coming inbound on his home to invade. He responded with his AR15 and a couple handguns, IIRC. Went through ~100+ rounds, and the invaders were repelled. Sorry, but I can't recall where that event occurred or much else about it.
I know its a matter of to each his own, but when I get outta this hell hole and get back stateside, well I plan on having atleast one extra mag on me always. Plus a few other weapons of choice..
