I got my package thru quite fast - bit over a year ago. Total time for the non-res was approx 60 days - and that was doing old ink prints too at Sheroff's Office locally.
It would have come thru quicker if they hadn't seemingly overlooked or lost my proof of residency, which I sent again.
Pretty good tho anyways - they seem pretty switched on.

Ditto. I moved out of FL, and emailed the state bureau to ask how to get a non-resident permit. Their response was quick, detailed and also excellent news: my FL permit is still valid because they don't make a distinction between residents and nonresidents. Once you meet the rquirements, you are licensed to carry in FL no matter what.
well, in some circles, we are known as the gunshine state.![]()

The folks that handle Florida licenses are fast, efficient and very friendly. An A+ organization all the way around.

I live in NC, so what is the advantage of having a Florida CCW. My state is honored by Florida. Please explain. Also, if it is an advantage what do I do to get the ball started.
Listen, Think and React.....Nuff Said.....
I just went to the the FLA website and requested the paperwork two days ago. I have GA license but it is not recognized by OH where my in-laws live. The FLA license is recognized by OH so since we go up there so much it makes sense for me to get it. Even if some of Ohio's laws are kinda vague...particulary carry in a motor vehicle.Originally Posted by BlueLion
I think it also gains me five or six states that don't recognize the GA license.
Why Ike, whatever do you mean? Maybe poker's just not your game Ike. I know! Let's have a spelling contest!
Some states my not recongize your NC permit, but they my recongize the Fla permit. All it does is allow you to carry in more states.Originally Posted by BlueLion

Do I need to qualify at a range for a non-resident license in FLA. I did'n't have to do that for my GA license. If so, do I just go down to my local range, have the owner see my score and fill out some paper work?![]()

Doc - FL requires some proof of training and I think that apart from in state accepted courses, also suitable is DD214 and NRA instructor cert' - I used the latter, sending copies of all my certificates and stuff.
I somehow doubt a simple ''letter from the range'' will suffice but the home grown guys can probably clarify this. In fact tho not handy right now - I think the application paperwork does mention what is required.

The package will have the list of items, that are suitable. Here are a few. If you are prior military, copy of DD214 is all you need. Since you are here in Ga, if you have ever taken a Hunter Safety course, that is good also.
Training documentation; eight different records can be accepted such as DD214, NRA/State training course, hunter safety, etc.
I took that way back in 1993 or so. I lost that little green card a million years ago. Is there a way to get a replacement without having to sit through that again??????

I'm definitely considering getting a FL license in addition to my OH one. Does anyone have a direct link to where I can request the application?
