    retorts

ok let me start off by sayin I know this topic has to have been a million time before but I thought it would be fun to see what everyone would have to say to their friends family or even strangers who happen to be antis an ask the burning question "why do carry a gun, arent you afraid people will think you are causing trouble?"

I carry a gun because an Abraham's M1 Tank will not fit in my pocket.

Friends and strangers don't know (so far ) that I carry, and I don't have any anti-gun family members, so I'm pretty rusty on retorts

Something along the lines of you'd carry too if you cared about the personal safety of yourself and your family.

If that's not enough, I'll lay out the whole restaurant scenario and crazed gunman. That usually drives home the point.

If I do need to explain - which anyways I do not feel obliged to do - I state that I take responsibility for my own safety and that of my family, period

I quote again what an old buddy said to me a coupla years ago - ''you are asking for trouble carrying a gun'' LOL! Funny thing is tho - he could not and would not say why. Lovely guy back in UK but a sheep!

Another buddy of mine tells folks - ''I enjoy life, and fully intend to see it thru to a natural conclusion, without some slimeball depriving me of it''! That works!

That's my answer, sadly I'm usually way to nice to actually use it.

    Talking

"Because muggers, killers, and crazy people on meth usually try to stop you from calling the cops. If your lucky enough to get the call out, you have a very grumpy psycho to talk to for a while until the cops can save you." That sounds like your life is in the hands of too many other people.
I'll save my own life thank you.

If you can't be trusted with the safe and appropriate use of a firearm, you shouldn't be operating a much more complex 1 ton projectile, either. Been driving long......?

Not sure where I read it, but one guy said "Because I am licensed by the Director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (Insert the agency that issues your license here) to carry a gun in this state." Thats the truth, if they assume your a LEO, so be it, the directors signature is on my license.
