Las Vegas CCW Instruction

I will be in Las Vegas for about a week in late November. I wanted to take the 1 day CCW class and I called Las Vegas Shooting Academy since they advertise a one day class. Not only did no one answer the phone, no one returned my voice mail I left.Can anyone recommend another outfit to do this?

One other question. I read that after you take your paperwork to LVMP they call you for an appontment for fingerprinting and a photo. How do you do this if you in town for only a 5 day stay?

I have kicked around the idea of getting a Vegas CCW to go with my Nevada Id card.
Last time I checked are were alot of places that you can go. You have classroom training and the you have to qualify at the range. I think the range so signs the blue card and you bring that down to LVMP. I beleive then you can walk into LVMP and wait while they take your photo and prints. Then they can mail it to you. There may be a long line because they print all the dealers and casino staff not just firearms.
Are you attending SEMA or PBR?

I am just visiting a friend who retired out there. The first problem is to find a CCW class to enroll in. Las Vegas Shooting Academy won't be getting my business even if they do call back. Ignoring potential business is not a good way to keep or attract customers.

Did you take the time difference into consideration when you called? Also, look at Front Sight, you can get certificates online fairly cheap if you Google it. Do you have to get your card in Las Vegas? I hear Nye County is much more pleasant to deal with.

yes I took the time difference into account. Even if I hadn't they still did not return the message I left. Guess business is so good they don't need new customers. Fine by me. I'll go elsewhere.

You can take a multi-state CCW class at The Gun Store. The multi-state class will, if you want, give you applications and the paperwork for not only Nevada, but also Florida and Utah. There's a small fee for the extra paperwork. I went ahead and applied for all 3 when I got my CCW permit. It's nice to be able to carry in over 30 states.

As far as applying for the permit, I just took my Nevada application, and the paperwork to the Metro office on Cameron. There, I was able to turn in the application, and get my photo and fingerprints done without an appointment. I was also able to pay a small fee, and get extra fingerprint cards for the Florida and Utah applications. I mailed those the same day that I applied for my Nevada permit, and got the Utah permit in 30 days, the Florida in 60, and the Nevada in 90 days. You ca call if you have a question. Squawker, thanks a lot for all this good info. I already have my Fl and UT permits in process right now. FL is at 110 days right now for me. I was planning on carrying in NV on my UT permit, but we know what happened to that !! I alo got a line on American Shooters as well. I now have enough info to get a class from somebody !

Yep, that is the right place to turn everything in and get printed. Make sure you have the right form of payment. If I remember correctly they only take a check or money order, but no cash or cards (double check to be sure).

I went through the Gun Store and it was a mistake. They gave me a lot of bad info and Kurt clarified everything for me at no charge. I think it's time to give back.

The fingerprint and photo is done the same day you show up.
