fwiw-several folks I know carry among other things little berreta 22's as a deep BUG, however they are quite skilled at close qtr combat and a surprise technique of last resort. Not my preference, but I do defer to the skill and training of these folks. Their approach is not unlike that of knife surprise sandwich. DIfferent approaches for different folks I guess.

I've carried .38, 9mm, .357 and .45 since I've carried handguns for various reasons. I'm open to .380 but that's the smallest caliber I'd be comfortable carrying. I have owned .25 sub-compact handgun (Raven) but I don't have faith that it would have enough stopping power for CCW.

9mm. Really just a subjective decision, but AFAIK, it is the smallest caliber used in modern war. Besides, there is no reason to go smaller. The only reason to go to a smaller caliber, is for a smaller gun and I can tote my G36 comfortably in any of my current manner of dress.

I voted 380 but the smallest I currently carry is .38 special.

I voted .380 as I do carry my Ruger LCP as a BUG or a primary EDC in the summertime.
God bless our troops!
Well, I voted .38 although I would carry a .327 so I guess that's an exception to the poll's intent.

I suggest that if you can find in your inner self the will to inflict violence on someone who is trying to victimize you, and can back up that iron will with all the force that you can muster, you will most likely be successful.
