What Would You Do-SC CWP & FL vs UT

So I finally got around to finishing up all my documents photos etc for my SC CWP, I mailed it off today to SLED in Columbia!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOOO Cant Wait!!!!!!!!!!!

I have talked to a few other SC cwp holders and turn around is roughly 90-120 days from what I'm hearing, I just wanted to check and see what other SC cwp holders experienced time frame wise to recieve their permit. I figure with the holidays I hopefully plan on recieving it hopefully sometime in Febuary, maybe it will be a Bday present to me as mine is the 10th of FEB.

I'm debating on whether to get my UT or FL non resident permit, I need to be able to carry in the entire southeast to include LA, MS, GA, FL, TN, AL, SC, & NC both would enable me to do so and with either/or I'll be legal in roughly 33 states, so the only issue is cost and the ability to apply for the FL permit w/o having my sc cwp already, (is this correct???), is UT the same or I need my Sc CWP first???

UT is cheaper at 66.25$ vs FL 117.00$ But I have met the FL training req being active military but for UT I'll have to complete a course by a UT certified instructor which would even out the cost....

What Shall I do....any suggestions..What Would You Do

I searched and google my options before I asked just to be semi straight before i asked advice

I have a SC CWP and it took nearly 5 months to get it. When I finally got it, there was a letter telling me that they were sorry for the delay but the state has had a cut in funds to where they had to let people go. Thus backing up the app process. If this is still the case I'm sure you will have about the same wait period.

As for the non-res permits, i have just sent my app to get a NH non-res. I was under the impression that UT didn't issue non-res CWPs. I wish I knew because it's about $40 cheaper. I also needed MS, GA, and AL. I would go with UT since it's cheaper. I don't know about UT but NH required me to make a copy of both my drivers license AND my CWP. If you go to their state website it will give you the requirements for a non-res permit. I'm pretty sure they will require you to wait for the SC CWP before applying for theirs. Hope this helps brother.

Btw, NH doesnt require that UT training. Your military is good just like with the SC. NH is $100.

For about a 4 hour ride to Jacksonville, FL (one way), you can have your FL permit in about 2-3 weeks without a hassle.
One of the 'walk in' regional offices is in JAX...just make an appearance with your 'papers' and your permit will arrive in the mail shortly afterwards.

I think mine came in about 85ish days. I also got the letter with mine. Will be good to have another CCer in Chucktown. Also...you know you don't need to send a photo anymore though right? They use your drivers license photo...

Mine took right at 90 days. My wife took her class about 6 weeks after mine, and hers took right at the 90 days also. This has been within the last 6-9 months. Several friends who took the class at the same time were right at 90 also. Seems to be about the rule.

I just sent off for PA non-resident permit to give me GA - I don't have much need for other states. PA supposedly only takes a couple weeks, is good fir 5 years, and only cost $26. Only took a couple minutes to fill out the form, and send copy of DL and CWP. Nothing to it.

State law requires SLED to issue within 90 days. Mine was here 89 days after I mailed it off. Several friends were also in the 85-90 day range. Haven't heard of anyone waiting longer than 90.

I sent mine in th SLED at the end of August... the next weekend I got a big yellow envelope in the mail... I thought "that was quick!"

Turns out that they rejected my fingerprint cards... rolled prints and sweaty hands don't mix... I had them redone the next Monday and sent it all in again. Calculations show I should get it sometime mid november if they're following the 90 day schedule.

I've been waiting 66 days so far and it's been painful to hear about 2 week turnaround in other States.

according to usacarry, NH doesnt do non res permits is this outdated??

I choose Fl because thats the only solution I saw to take care of ga,al,ms, other that UT, which would require me to take a class....I'm born and raised Louisiana boy so I need to be able to travel down there and carry legally...

I wish mine came that quick. State law may require an issue before 90, but I doubt it says the individual has to have it in 90 days. At any rate, looks like you could be waiting anywhere from 2-5 months. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it gets to you faster than it got to me.
