From what I heard, the Utah CC course is more comprehensive so one may expect to learn more than say, here in Arizona. Aside from that, I wouldn't bother if cost was a factor. The only other State I wish I could conceal carry is in the Socialist Republic of California. As we should all know, that’s not likely to ever happen.

In any event, if there was an authorized Utah course available in my area, I would most likely attend simply for the enjoyment of learning something different, and to have an alternate permit in my portfolio.

I also live in Oregon and got the Utah permit (to go along with my Oregon permit) in order to get coverage for most of the western USA. The idea was for post retirement RVing. The current financial situation has cut way back on those plans and I find myself staying much closer to home and rarely leaving Oregon. I will re-evaluate the situation when my Utah permit comes up for renewal in about three years, but will probably keep it just in case.

    Regards,

When I lived in Nevada 1978-2006 I carried a Nevada residence permit and a Utah Non resident permit and an AZ Permit.

It was the same class, same instruction Etc. for Utah & Nevada permits.

Az was different But I think it was the bad instructor in Kingman AZ. A lot of misinformation and BS trying to filll in the required time slots.

    Utah required course...

I live in Mississippi & am interested in getting a non-resident permit from Utah. Apparently, lots of people who live outside of Utah have them. How do I get info on the course requirements & if one can take it without traveling to Utah for it?

I did end up taking a Utah CC class and have the paper work sitting here waiting to get in the mail. I originally found the class through the Nickle.. essentially a classified ad newspaper.

I'd go here, to Utah's public safety website to get more information. It includes a list of certified instructors that may aid in finding a class.

In the end, the deciding factor for getting the Utah permit was, "Why not". I had some extra money, and decided since I don't know what the future holds it would be worth having. As for the class being more involved, I didn't find that to be the case. It was pretty basic, and most of the time was spent covering Utah specific laws that wasn't overly helpful.
