Police officers need spare magazines in case they are called to an on-going violent scene, or back-to-back scenes.

I no longer work in either capacity. I'm not trying to get into a gunfight, and if one comes my way, I am not planning to stay there. My goal is to get away without shooting. Spare magazines would just slow me down.

That said, my EDC already has twice the capacity of a standard 1911.

At home is a different story. Those aren't spares on the table, they're reloads, but I don't have to carry them around.

    Interesting analogy

My EDC(s) hold 11 & 13 rd.s, Still carry xtra mag, in pocket

If ya cant hit em in the first 6, ya shouldn't be carrying is my personal opinion LEO excluded (they have different situations to contend with), but as a private citizen carrying look at the statistics, plus I have enough trouble keeping my pants over fat bum as it is I don't need anymore extra weight.......

I answered OWB but it depends:

OWB in a Gerber multitool knife holster or in weak side front pocket if using IWB Crossbreed or OWB Serpa, SmartCarry magazine pouch if using SmartCarry.

Crossbreed also makes an IWB mag holster but I don't think I want to put any more "stuff" IWB. I've thought about getting a Blackhawk! OWB mag holster.

I use a cellphone case on my belt, it works very well and conceals the magazine.

A spare mag is used to clear a type 3 malfunction.

It just depends sometimes one in weakside pocket, sometimes two in fobus paddle holster, sometimes none. It depends what i am doing or where i am going.

I have not really thought about this yet, I'll tell you that I am thinking about it. At the moment I feel that I already have to many items on my person.Personally, I have been carrying for 2 months so I am just getting accustomed to my weapon. I have not selected a carry position, I kinda like appendix carry! So, the idea of extra rounds are foreign at the present time

I voted pocket...but have been trying to figure out if there is something that works better for me. After reading thru your helpful posts, I like the cell phone case idea and plan to give that a try.

I've taken a couple defensive shooting classes and one of the many things I learned was: if there are multiple attackers, one goes thru ammo quickly. I carry a glock 27 - so I've only got 10 rounds. Personally, I feel better if I have that extra mag with me.

2=1 and 1=none. Always carry 2 spare magazines.

If carrying my P232 I carry them in an old Blackberry case or if carrying a bigger gun they are in a kydex 2 mag carrier on my weak side.

If using my SmartCarry one spare mag in the SmartCarry and 1 in my pocket.
